Typical example of a victim making more victims... The dad isn't bad or evil. He was probably just like his son when he was a kid, but his own dad would beat him and make him fight, so he grew up to repress his natural way of being and became like that because he was brought up to believe he had no choice and that was the right way. And he knows no better than doing with his own son what his own dad did to him, still believing that is the right way. His wife and brother realize that's wrong and tell him so, but he still doesn't realize it, or at least has a hard time accepting it.

This short film was outstanding! The story line, the actors, the set and landscaping were amazing and authentic. It was truly difficult to witness the little boy being physically and psychologically abused by his damaged father. The boy suffered with asthma and he has him out trying to fight. The father does not even make sure the child has an inhaler before leaving the house. I know he took the child out of the home without discussing it with his mother. The father's definition of soft means 'I absolutely do not accept YOU! We don't always receive the children we want but we receive the children we need. We are taught lessons by our children. I am very frighten for this boy! He is constantly being told that something is wrong with him. Children are curious about the clothes and makeup their mother may wear. The little boy had other interest. His father was overflowing with FEAR, it was palpable! He brutalized his son physically and left marks on his body! Every boy doesn't want to kill for sport an innocent animal. I know we have dominion over animal life but I don't understand killing for sport. The father was also, I know physically and psychologically abusive to his wife. The child's mother was in a domestic violence relationship. She stood up for her son but eventually became coward because of fear of what he would do to her. There were so many serious family problems in the film. Bravo to these incredible actors in telling this story in a very believable manner! God bless all children who are in horrific life situations!

If the dad did have such a black and white vision of gender role maybe the son wouldn’t be questioning his gender identity, ie lipstick.
