One person wants to change the other person in some fashion. That's when trouble starts. She wants him to get rid of something that's important to him. That's selfish of her. That's not love, it's control. It's been a while since I watched this, but he caves, doesn't he? If you let someone do that once, they'll do it again.

She wants what she wants and what he wants isn't relevant. Also, she talks down to him, and insults him, all within the first 30 seconds. Nah, if she considered him an equal (it's clear that she doesn't) then she'd be willing to discuss a compromise or something with him.
