The game is free to play friendly until Master 1 because that is when everyone is running MK3 Duxes and Ultimate stuff except you and your team. Yeah, D points seem to have defiantly made the game easier for f2p then it was when I played. I bet their planning on nerfing the Mauler either in the next Update or the one after that. Don't invest into it since it has not been nerfed
