Another fun video!! Question here for anyone who can answer. What does it mean when a monkey does lip smacking?? Some say that it’s the monkey’s way of “talking “. Others see a darker meaning such as the monkey being upset about something and somewhat threatening. What is the truth?? I’m very new to this monkey stuff, so am just trying to learn. Any help will be appreciated.

I believe lip smacking means that the monkey is showing pleasure. When Moms comfort a baby and are overwhelmed with feelings of happiness and love, they will lipsmack. However, in this case (with Gracie), someone had mentioned that she was displaying a fear grimace. If she was, then it only means she is still getting to know Uncle Bob, and she was probably just a little bit uneasy when her Mama left (like all babies). That's why the family is trying to get used to leaving Gracie with a babysitter- it's just good practice! I'm sure these days she lipsmacks WITHOUT the fear grimace! :)

I've also seen a mom and baby lip smack when the kidnapper has the baby and Mom's trying to steal it back. I'm not an expert this is just what I've seen...
