Sad to see what you experienced. Zambians are not scammers. I heard you say that the guy drove you to and fro, if am right then that may be the reason why you were charged more. I live on the copperbelt of Zambia but I travel to Lusaka frequently and am familiar with the taxi fares. My advice to you is that you do it like your bro Marwa does it. Make sure that you have a guide when in a foreign country that way you will avoid being scammed. Safe trip back home.

Dee Best to always ask how much fare will be from A to Z than make sure you have smaller denominations cash. They need to be reported. Majority visitors foreigners face these scams ND price hikes etc.

Street taxis charge different from the ulendo app. They are completely independent from each other.. its the same when you are in Western Countries..the cost of booking a cab beforehand is cheaper than flagging a taxi.

I’m Jamaican living in Zambia for over a year now… even with some Ulendo drivers because I’m a foreigner they think I don’t really know where I’m going so they drive and take me around in circles. So even while checking on google maps it’ll say I’m 5 mins from my destination. Check back in a few minutes, then I’m ten minutes away 😂 People think we are rich 🥲

Taxi drivers are like this even to locals. Jutst use the app if you can. Pole kwako. But the worst experience is in Uganda. You call Uber, it says UGX9,000, the driver says give me UGX 15,000. You ask him why, he answerss rudely "Are you getting on the App or my car"? "Is the App buying the fuel?". Happened twice within two days. I just gave up using the app

I'm a Zambian and I know transportation is super expensive. Never used Ulendo, it way more expensive than Grab I was used to in Asia. Taxis are rip offs, best to rent a car and drive yourself if you plan of staying here for a week or more.
