That series of DELL uses the same connector for the PSU, but has a different pinout! Only the DELL PSU will work with it, or you have to modify the connector cabling of one of your test supply to be used with a DELL. I made the same mistake trying to use a DELL PSU for another normal motherboard, but luckily it just shorts out and go to failsafe mode without destroying the MB or PSU. As another one below noted, it looks like the same DDR buffer IC was used in the DELL? Brings back memories - had one of these as my work PC around year 2000🙂

I modified a Dell Slot 1 board this week like this. Removed the aux and ATX connector, put a donor ATX connector on but side shifted. Worked a treat.

It seems that just below the ICS chip a capacitor C5 is missing next to C33, close to where you cleaned one of the pathways. At minute 14:30 or 19:10 of the video you can see it better.

the dell board may not actually be lost yet check the psu pinout of the dell psu against yours dell had machines for a while where the psus looked like normal atx but they had a different pinout also the at style connector was 3v only on those dell psus your psu has a p4 aux which is 3v and 5v

Re dodgy lead, mine where intermittent brand new with my meter. This may sound a daft, silly, stupid, unbelievable thing to do, but I fixed them by (not attached to the meter) holding each end (the hard plastic bits) one end in each hand, so the lead in between is hanging low. Then quickly pull the lead tight. If you get what I mean. This sorted the leads for me. But there is a chance it could f**k them. But the leads where useless/untrustworthy as they where. A good test of a pair of leads on continuity is unplug one and stick the probe of the one still connected where the other goes.

Any PC motherboard will start without ram. It usually gives code C0 or C1 on a post analyzer but this depends on the BIOS. I start them without RAM a lot in my retro PC videos, then fit ram if they are bleeping or showing a code. This is stuck at 00 or some random code at startup. Vcore is up so either it has no clock, is stuck in reset or can't access the BIOS. That's it pretty much
