He’s not wrong about all of that going on in rehabs and psychiatric hospitals. Rehabs and psychiatric facilities are very corrupt and scary. We need reform and a major clean up in those systems to really help the patients.

Yep. Totally agree. I've been locked up in psychiatric hospitals 9x and haven't received a drop of help. I just developed a sense of becoming more violent to defend myself from everyone and everything. That's what being locked up with other psychotic people in the acute wing does.

I don't understand why men are so broken like this now. Not saying these problems didn't exist but it seems extreme now and you used to only see that kind of shit in big prison, not county. People actually putting the effort required into overcoming their addictions are far too uncommon. This! And it can't be a pre selected and staged "model home" place either. I have often said that anyone who has a job that plays a role in putting people in prison need to have spent at least 48 hours in the facility to truly understand what it is like. Same for foster homes group homes etc. IDK how we would do that. But you really need to understand what you are sending people into. There is so much corruption and abuse going on in these places and it largely goes unpunished. The amount of $$ involved is usually the key

Yeah, but why would they give a fk? Because they swore by a book to uphold principles? The money they are paid is from taxes and money printing, which means they can’t have any responsibility to you or anyone they swear to do good works by. A person who gains what another person doesn’t voluntarily give can’t therefore be expected to act responsibly towards the second person unless they first give back what they wouldn’t have given if they had had a choice. These concepts are too simple for 99% of people to understand.

Yet people getting high here as well, people who the managers will not or cannot touch and I'm actually afraid of retaliation since I have nowhere else to go except back on the streets. I couldnt get discharged from the program after completion because staff would not contact my county probation to let them know i was done. I also broke my ankle while playing basketball & could not get an xray for 6 weeks. After the bone was almost healed. It was a bad situation. I worked in San Diego at a state funded non profit, we all took our jobs extremely seriously. Licensed therapists and PhD psychologists. For all of our faults in San Diego HHSA and providers, would be a appalling and way out of line if anything even remotely like this happened in Southern California. Even having counselors "phone it in" is a major no no here. Not going to fly. They wash out in 12 months under the workload. Residential, you're going to find more burnt out counselors, outpatient is pretty high preforming. It's totally free in CA, if you're court mandated or can't afford drug treatment. They're not very glamorous, but I think we get pretty good outcomes. So some states and cities have their act together with these programs. It costs money to run them, but it's a pittance compared to any other field in healthcare, and it costs a lot less than the social costs associated with having someone in addiction and homeless.

When I was much younger, I was to go to a rehab facility-by my lawyer’s advice-before an upcoming court date. At the first facility, I could smell drugs being smoked in a bathroom while the house manager was giving me a tour. When he asked my impressions and intentions, I told him I would be checking other options. He was curious why; I felt badly but said “I’m quite certain guys are smoking crack in the bathroom right now.” It was a shame and a travesty for the gentlemen who truly wanted to recover.

I really hope Mr Lewis gets the help he wants and needs!! What he did takes incredible inner strength amd slthough he got caught up in the evil web of drug addiction! He did NOT stay in that mindset! You can do it brother!

Yep, worked as a guard at a state mental hospital in IL (this was 40 years ago) but quit after 6 months because of the amount of corruption among staff. The amount of drugs being smuggled in by the staff, the sexual favors in exchange for the drugs was unbelievable. IL is a very corrupt state.

It’s not very often I have much of anything good to say about some of these inmates or ones in treatment but I really hope Mr. Daniels I think his name is gets all the help he seems to be asking for…..I think he’s sincere….and I hope he’s safe where he’s going. And I truly hope they get to the bottom of what’s going on at the other place.

To be honest, I wouldn't have believed the first defendant but the prosecution not objecting speaks volumes, I'm guessing he has an idea that there is a problem.

I love you Judge Boyd. You have a zen about you - even when you’re laying into a defendant, you have this calm. Even when craziness ensues, you maintain your classy composure and you set a fabulous example for not just woman, but that all people should take into consideration. I like that you see people as people and not just their charges or convictions. I love watching cases that come in front of you and get so excited when I see something from your courtroom pop into my feed. Keep up your amazing work and I look forward to seeing more from you.

Here in Prescott az one of our son's was at the premier rehab and the top counselor was selling drugs for the longest time. We've been around several decades and Judge Boyd is just incredibly intelligent, fair and has something missing in this world and that's common sense, she's fabulous and id love to see trumpolini go in front of her

I'm a 66 year old Prescott native, and I'm so disgusted with what my hometown has become!🤬😡 I honestly hope your son was able to get clean in spite of that in-house "temptation". Unfortunately, Prescott has long been known as the place where you "come for the cure, stay for the relapse." With the number of rehabs there, it's obvious there's big money to be made in these places, so having people actually get clean and stay that way, doesn't help their bottom line or line the pockets as well either. I moved away from there in 2017 and I've been back twice - the last time was in late 2017/ early 2018. Although I have 3 grandchildren there, I just don't want to go back even for a visit.

@@imadobermom we've been around several decades and can't believe how much Prescott has changed, people have changed and I wonder what happened to class and character in America. We're married fifty years this year and have raised so many kids and grandkids and thankfully but now we're old and if we could move we would. Phoenix used to be nice thirty years ago and now it's a hot sewer. Have a wonderful day and thank you

@IM-zu - The topic was about corrupt rehab centers and the judges willingness to hear this man out and in each of these cases, and make sure each individual was given the appropriate tools to turn their lives around and still hold each of them accountable. However you somehow found it appropriate (it's not) to refer to former President Trump in an immature manner, and refer to him by a disrespectful, inaccurate "nickname". Why would you think it necessary to interject ANYTHING remotely "political" into this forum is beyond me. Where's YOUR "common sense", "class" and "character" you lament as no longer existing in todays society? It's regrettably absent as evidenced by the last line of your first comment. Try to enjoy your day.

What is a PSI and a TAP evaluation?

TAIP (Treatment Alternative to Incarceration Programs) is designed to assess a defendant’s substance abuse problems and assign an appropriate treatment plan. I believe PSI is a drug testing service.
