The hyena cubs didn’t go into the Lions’ “territory”. The lions went close to the hyenas den and ambushed the cubs. Hyenas will harass and sometimes kill lionesses. But will rarely take on a full grown male lion in his prime. He is King of the predators and hyenas can count themselves lucky if they escape an attack by the male lion.

This process makes a lioness tired. Your ratio of 3-1 will not cut it. Imagine a showdown of 30 hyenas to 10 Lionessess . It will be a massacre. An entire pride of hyenas will vanish. Also in this video, the 20 hyenas were there with only 2 lionesses. There were 3 when they hunted the hippo, but the scene was cut to another scene of two still eating the prey (almost nothing was left of it). So it was 20 hyenas to 2 lionesses who already are a lot. One actually was laying.
