It is a tragic irony that Vi’s death led to positive outcomes in the world, especially considering the chaos we’ve witnessed over Arcane's two seasons. Her death causes Jayce’s experiments to be put on hold and he likely would’ve been arrested. Without meeting Viktor, Jayce wouldn’t have anyone to stop him from committing suicide, Viktor not meeting Jayce would soon die from his illness. If both Jayce and Viktor die, there would be no Hextech. Without Hextech, there would be no Jesus Viktor and nothing to bring the world to the brink of collapse. Vi's death might also affect Silco who had once promised to help Felicia with her child. He could be moved by her loss and eventually reconcile with Vander, allowing them to work together to make Zaun a better place.Without Silco and Vander fighting, Singed wouldn’t have been able to move in with Silco and create Shimmer. And without that, the events from s 1 ep 3 that led to Mylo and Claggor’s deaths wouldn’t have happened. Without Hextech in Piltover and with Zaun becoming more livable, the two cities cultivated a mutually beneficial relationship, aiming for progress on both sides. It makes me wonder with a disturbing thought perhaps the 'Jinx' isn't Powder, but Vi herself. Yet, considering Vi's character and story, it’s plausible she would willingly sacrifice herself if she knew her death would bring peace and happiness to her loved ones. If she could go back to that pivotal moment, she might choose to die, knowing it would ensure her family’s and friends’ well-being.

It wasn't specifically Vi's dead what caused everything to be fine. She was just the one closest to the explosion, as we can see in the Main Universe, she gets yetted against the wall fortunately making it out alive. It's independent of whoever of the kids dies (Claggor, Mylo, Powder, Vi), it's a butterfly effect, mostly. What actually changed everything, was the enforcers being able to find a dead kid's body in Jayce's laboratory. We can't also forget about Silco's being able to find Vander's letter in that Alternate Universe, which I'm not sure what caused him to find it.

To be clear, it's not just the absence o hextech, there is a number of little things that have gone differently. Like, this is not an ideal universe, just WAY better than the other one as far as Zaun and it's relationship to Piltover is concerned. • There has been a revolution attempt, and it ended with Vi's and Powder mother dying, as well as Vander trying to kill Silco. BUT, that letter in the mines was found and it is fair to assume they mended things and tried a slower, iterative approach to their Zaun project. You can see there is open commerce and more of a friendly vibe on the bridge, not equality, but slowly mending things. • Shimmer was never invented, probably because Silco never funded Singed's experiments nor united the Chem Barons under him. • Jayce either didn't survive the accident in his laboratory or was arrested as the explosion with his undocumented/unsupervised experiments ended with a dead kid this time around. Not sure he himself would keep pushing forward with that kind of weight on his mind. • Even Marcus did not get the chance to start his downward spiral into corruption. He did not antagonize the kids on the scene of the explosion, even if it was clear they were not supposed to be there. He had the chance to see them not as criminals, but as unfortunate children in the wrong place and time. Like, there is tragedy and loss in this world, it's not the perfect timeline. It just so happens that Ekko's main timeline is ultra fucked up and this looks like paradise in comparison.

My guess on Ekko's altworld is that when they went on the job and Vi died from the explosion; Grayson was there to see the mess and had to go tell Vander. They had good rapport together at that point, of course, as always. But because it was the fault of a Piltover resident that a young Zaunite girl died to an explosive accident? It pushed the need for reform right to the forefront. And then this offered the ability for the massive amount of shift towards unity. Vi's death likely brought everyone together. Jayce doesn't have to die either; if he survived then his cause of the death of Vi would have landed him in Stillwater himself, never able to continue creating. There's no way the council would have allowed him to get off with such a light sentence in that scenario. And since Zaun was already united on its own internally - Silco having read that letter from Vander and forgiven him, and worked together instead of in opposition? There was less sides to "combat" for the overall unity. Instead of a bridge to separate, a bridge to connect.

Jayce was knocked back from the door and Vi was also blown up a little, but Cait was entirely unharmed. I think Vi is likely the only one that died from the impact, with Jayce either being imprisoned, exiled, or committed suicide after seeing his life's work tainted by the death of a child.

Silco decides to reconcile with Vander and forgives him and together they help Zaun to flourish And Heimerdinger helps to improve Zaun while waiting for the original Ekko to arrive. So in this universe probably almost everybody is happier than the original universe because Hextech was never invented… and Vi died… 😢

What people miss is that this possible future where everything is great it is not because VI died, but because Heimerdinger was transported to his variant while he was still a high console member, and had so much time to change the state between Piltover and the Undercity, for everyone to be accepted and seen equally and have the same opportunities in life, that's why Silco and Vander were able to forgive each other, because there was no longer any inequality that oppressed their people, and maybe VI's death made them talk but that doesn't have to be the only way, Jayce probably killed himself because he was rejected, and his research never saw the light of day, which Heimerdinger probably couldn't stop Jayce from killing himself, because he was probably transported in to his variant after that hapend, and couldn't save his student, and after he changed everything Heimerdinger decided to play music for the people occasionally waiting for his version Ekko to come.

This episode was something out of this world. Jayce having to see a possible outcome of his dream and the pain of watching what the world can become. On the other side seeing ekko realizing that some place, along the way, through all these years of battle against the oppression of piltover and silco, he gave up the two most important things in his life. In contradiction with most of the fandom i didn't cry in this episode. to me, this episode is about hope. It's about showing that no matter how fucked up things are there is always a way to fix it.

Im in awe with Arcane Season 2 writing, because in this timeline, the cost of this harmony between Zaun and Piltover are Vi's, Caitlyn's and Jayce's deaths. It left such a trauma in everyone involved with the victims that it was decided to have a clean slate and start over on everything and everyone. The Hound of the Underground eldest daughter, Counselor Kiramman's only daughter and Heimerdinger's star pupil were the price to pay for these pilot figures to say "enough". Losing Vi made Silco and Vander relink their friendship, and with both influences with the same goal, made Zaun start to heal into a better place. Losing Caitlyn surely made Cassandra Kiramman see Zaun with new eyes through grieve and use her influence in the Council to have a better diplomacy for both cities. Losing Jayce proved Heimerdinger's point that the Arcane and therefore, Hextech, is not to be messed with and erased it entirely from future uses. I want to think that Heimerdinger took Viktor under his wing as pupil and focused on other things to create and resolve. But what shakes me the most is Powder's change. She's still curious, highly intellectual, still has world-changing ideas, natural genius extraordinaire, and she tones this all down for what she thinks is balance. Losing Vi was the crudest wake-up call and the ultimate way for finally Powder really look up to her sister, even with Vi gone, and adopt some of her protective attitude towards everyone. You can see that all the people that Vi was close with still pay her homage somehow, using patches of Vi's pink hair color in their clothing, painting violets in the walls, Vander's VI tattoo on his hand, no "X" whatsoever in Powder's clothing but a bunch of hints of V shapes in everything she uses. Vander knows Powder can easily be destined to greatness -the bar scene- and even if he doesn't agree with her decision, he respects it. Powder still has the fragments of the gemstones as a reminder of her sister's death and why it happened, but after realizing that her Ekko is *not* actually her Ekko (come on guys, at some point she just knows and it's confirmed by the way she helps Ekko and Heimerdinger with their "experiment". This is a healthy minded Powder here. Girl is SHARP), and seeing Vi's mural painted from a "dream" Ekko had... she starts to wonder about that other dimension where her big sister is alive, all grown up, and is the baddest woman to ever grace Zaun''s breathing air. By the time the dance scene comes, Powder is in love all over again with Ekko... the main timeline Ekko. She knows the differences and she also is trying her best to live every second of it because the "experiment" is going to work and main timeline Ekko will be gone -I mean, she's helping. Of course it's gonna work. That's why she asks "Where did you learned those moves?"... that's not her Ekko dancing. When she says "he's got lines", confirms that's not her Ekko talking because looks like main timeline Ekko is waaay smoother that other dimension Ekko. When Ekko says he "will never forget this" and "Can we just pretend like is the first time?" just seals the deal for her and kisses him, because she realizes they're not together where main timeline Ekko comes from, that he was dancing with the one that got away, and it makes her sad. This chapter hit me like a thousand bricks falling to my skull, as I never got the chance not even to dance with my one that got away. I think Vi's death in the alternate universe was what brought Silco and Vander back together, and with them burying the hatchet and forgiving each other, they worked together to build a better Zaun. And remember Jayce's punishment for hextech was originally banishment. He was able to talk them out of it in the main timeline, but in the alternate one, with Vi's death, I think he was banished, and hextech never came to be.

Something that isn't really focused on, but is still really important: Due to his injury in the dark timeline, Jayce now somewhat understands what Viktor's life was like before the Hexcore: The painful struggle of every step, feeling like your own body is rebelling against you. Only it's the opposite leg that was injured, showing how his pain is meant to mirror Viktor's.

This episode is just Ekko playing Life is Strange Double Exposure (y'know since this is ab alternate timelines) and episode 8 is gonna be him playing the OG Life is Strange since that is ab rewinding time. ALSO the way alternate Powder reminded me SO MUCH of Amanda from LiS Double Exposure; both are bartender girls with the same bangs and space buns and the same funny but caring personality. The way Powder says "You're beyond help" to Ekko reminded me of Amanda saying "You're such a disaster" to Max's struggles; they both say it in such a jokingly, light-hearted but caring way. Like they both make fun of them but are still so caring and help them. They've got the same personality traits.

It broke my heart that Vi died in that alternate universe. What comforts me is that at least there, Vi was able to find the peace she never had in the main timeline. She didn’t have to lose Vander, Mylo, and Claggor, nor did she have to see the monster Powder became. That universe demanded a great sacrifice (Vi), and I’m sure she accepted it willingly, as long as everyone else was okay.

The powder and ekko's dance scene is animated in 4 frames per second, just after we learn that 4 seconds is his limit. Also i saw someone say like, Vi fights have like 3 wins in the entire show and the alternative universe where she is not is "the best one". I love Vi but it made me laugh more than i'm proud of.

It seems interesting that this episode sparks two sides out there. Like here I gather from watching: •Ekko: becoming the “Boy Savior” to unlock his time ability throughout the moment of inventing it with Power/Jinx’s help •Jayce: He is facing the moment of being Viktor with the broken leg and Virus going in his veins like a true Underground citizen. So both are facing peace or danger throughout their lives out there. Also I like to appreciate the creative in the dancing scene with Ekko and Powder as the animation being 4 Frames per second to give a nod to Ekko’s Time Seconds being a mount of 4s when he moves through time.

i saw someone point out that the undercity not going to shit is probably because heimerdinger spent over three years actually acknowledging that it exists? like if silco was in a place where he probably found that letter vander left him in the underground area and wasnt just focused on zaun's independance might be because piltover's leader saw them as actual living people because of ekko showing him in the original world
