I was just about to make a tutorial along these lines. Great job! I think it's tricks like this that make me wince when people hassle Elektron to make a new machine drum, like have you USED a digitakt? That thing is fantastic for designing drums. This same fast LFO technique can also be used to make ring-modulated sounds when you apply it to sample level and you get an even wider range of FM from the filter frequency because that parameter isn't limited to the 4 octave range of the tune parameter. Cheers!

Cheers, Yeah that's nice as well. It's amplitude modulation. Sounds great certainly :) filter modulation is always fun as well! Digitakt is indeed an epic device. Love it. Thanks for watching Robert :)

you should be using a square wave and doing the exact same thing but you don't need your lfo cycling so fast 32xBPM is fine, adjust the start, end and loop points to acheive whats known as a "Super Square" I think. Then you can copy to another track detune ever so slightly and trigger in unison, you will like this thing alot but a sine wave will not give you proper results with your otherwise perfect method. good videos thanks... crazy sounding stuff, courtesy loopop youtube video "Advanced Digitakt Tips and Tricks"

Great tip! Guess nobody will see this now in 2022, but - with the 2nd LFO, can you modulate the destination of the first one?

@Davemech
@Davemech Жыл бұрын
That’s really simple actually. 1. Boot up Digitone while holding func 2. Open your browser and go to your favorite synth store 3. Buy a sampler 4. Connect sampler to Digitone’s inputs 5. Reboot Digitone

The best tutorials on Digotakt! Very informative. If I just have a little comment: Please don't gesture so much with your hands in front of the camera. In such close shots it is very distracting and does not add anything. I know, it is sort of a trend amongst reviewers and propably supposes to add excitement and dynamics, but it is just annoying. Please, don't be angry with me but I just wanted to point this out. Cheers!

Cheers piotr! The hands... Yeah that's really not something I do intentionally. I talk with my hands in everyday life as well. It's just how things go. :)

one day you will be featured on drum code. what did you do to the kick? sounds super rich and has this tail, that sounds really good. care to share the secret low end design?
@Davemech
@Davemech 5 жыл бұрын
Haha that's a big compliment, thank you. Working hard to get places, let's hope it works out. From the top of my head this kick is a simple 909 kick with a hint of pitch modulation added. It's also the combination with the bass that makes it sound as it is. It's from another groove that I actually use in my live-set. I plan on doing multi hour in depth videos about sound design and groove creation through something like patreon. Keep an eye on the channel :)
@robertsyrett1992
@robertsyrett1992 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure if dave has a video on the topic, but you can add bass to your kick by using a resonant hi-pass (not a typo) filter on the kick sample to accentuate the fundamental and you can add a super short envelope to the filter if you want to emphasize the transient.
