He was 6'5 , could run 100m in 10.8 seconds , could bench 350lbs, and on top of all that he played part of his career having kidney cancer and played THROUGH the pain. Absolutel legend and the best rugby player ever

@@fresh4606 There is no one that could do what Jonah could, just he couldn't do some of the things others did. Early in his career no one could tackle him, too fast too strong. 1996-1998 hands down the best player on the planet..then he got sicker. Yes he was already sick when he was the best player. Hard to fathom really.

The rugby world never got to see Jonah reach his FULL potential because he suffered from a congenital kidney problem throughout his career, to which he finally succumbed. It's mind bending thinking how much more devastating he could've been! Forever remembered as the legend he is for all Pacific rugby players and fans alike. R.I.L.❤

"What is a try?" That's the touchdown or main score opportunity in rugby. Originally when first created, there were no points given for this. It gave the scoring team the chance to "try" to kick the ball over the posts to score (or convert the points), so the name for this stuck as a "try" when they realised this was more exciting to watch and attribute points for it. And the other points for the successful kick over stuck as the "conversion"

Jonah is the Mike Tyson in rugby. The GOAT. was awesome to watch him smash and carry the opposite team to the trylines. Yet off the field he was another man to the fans worldwide. One of a kind he is. Not was. Because there's been no one else like him... Since.

I was from the same place as Jonah, we saw him often , he was about 10 months older than me, he was a bit if a star even in high school , he was huge compared to everyone else his age, I played left wing at the same time and place as Jonah but only at under 21s club rugby level when he was playing for counties and the all blacks, I played similar style of game to him I think it was just the way wingers from our province played ,and when you've got power and speed you become like a roguevshsrk waiting to inject yourself into the right place at the right time big fend shoving them back thru the air onto their ass or powerful bump off or bowl over then over for the try, I worked out a lot and was a bit of a freak a muscle head ,was seriously built at an early age ,still am lol , joeli vidiri was the other winger in counties when Jonah was here , joeli was 6,3 110 kg and faster than Jonah he was from the same gym and same rugby club as me, he'd score more tries for counties than Jonah but they were good friends, both had the same kidney disorder both died from it, joeli died a few months back

I live in an area in Australia where there is a big Samoan population. They are naturally big in build and most I meet are lovely people. Went camping with a big group of them once ,it poured rain for days and the muddy track was super slippery. I saw four of them lift the back end of a station wagon back onto the track . In the early days of rugby "scoring" what you would call a Touchdown wasn't a score. You got no points for it. What you got was a chance to kick at goal. You got a free TRY to score..

There's tries which is when ya get the ball over the line it's worth 5 points. They then kick the ball over and through the posts for another 2 if they get it there's penalty which let you decide if you wanna go for the kick and get 3 points or a scrum

Jonah had a plan to score. I'm faster than you, I'll out accelerate you, I'll side-step you, I'll push you off and if that doesn't work I'll go through and over you! So the opposition learnt to double or triple mark and tackle him before he got going so that then left space for his mates to score. An awesome sportsman, a great Kiwi and a very fine human being. RIP Jonah.

IMPORTANT INFO - You can only pass/throw the ball BACKWARDS to a team-mate. Any throw forward is a foul. That's why the ball typically ends up on the wings, and that's typically where the fast men operate, because they are typically heading for the Try-line at full speed (Touchdown zone in NFL). Lomu was unusual, because he had the sprinting speed of a smaller winger, but the build of a much bigger player (usually found in the centre, wrestling other big "forwards"). I've never seen a player that big pick up speed so quickly. He was unique. There was a buzz in the crown whenever he got the ball.

Look at how the guys skull morphs throughout his career, thats what leads me to believe he also took HGH not just Dbolz.
