Hi! Cosmetologist and Natural Hair Care Specialist here from Oakland california. This style was done on blow dried hair from what i can see which is still a great way to maintain hair that is thick, coarse, dense or high porosity. The key is using a medium temperature for blow drying with a great moisturizing heat protector and doing so in moderation. I LOVE the end result😍😍😍😍😍..However, I will say that the curls are *not* heatless. Her hair was blow dried. If a style include blow drying, it is not heatless. Blow driers still omit heat and cause damage. Not saying it’s not fine to blow dry, silk press, or apply whatever heat you’d like to your hair to produce the style(s) you want..as long as you protect your crown.. …just giving my 4B-C ladies some realistic expectations. You *will* need to apply heat to your hair in order to achieve this defined a texture.

Not necessarily true… you can tell she used head for instant gratification. However I believe you can use a light setting solution. Overnight and achieve the same results and it would probably be fully without so much teasing to the pattern already set.

I remember when I was a young girl, my Aunt who was a beautician would do my Mom’s hair like this, but going straight back. My mom loved that it was 2 styles in one. When went natural this was the way I chose to twist my hair for twist out. As someone else said in the comments, not completely heatless as that hair was blow-dryer straight before the twist. Heat protectant is key. Beautiful frizz free outcome.
