Wiley is the godfather for a reason, but there's guys like Kano, Chip, Skepta, JME ect that really helped push the understanding of what grime is about at it's core, not just a platform for street guys to talk badness.

I would argue he’s not a “well known rapper”, I think he’s more of if I know u know. I’m 21 don’t really listen to modern grime, but listen to more of it when it first started to come out. I was introduced to Kano at 16 by someone who grew up with Wiley, Kano etc. if ask people round my age they wound not have heard of him, (except from top boy). Obviously there’s a bit of crossover with uk rap,grime and drill. Although it’s a bit of more then just numbers, but if u look at his Spotify monthly listeners compared to their artists in the same/similar genre they are way more popular.
