i think it's because he noticed jade wasn't falling for his charms. so he realized she was smarter than expected and could lure nate away from his influence. the reason he can control nate is because nate didn't get the approval he craved from a father figure (ted gave that to him at first but then he felt ignored). but jade was now providing that emotional support and hers was sincere and not manipulative, so he had to sabotage it. he wanted nate to be totally dependent on him.

The circus-y music you asked about at the beginning, as well as the vocal music at the very end, comes from the stage musical "La Cage aux Folles" (note resemblance to the episode title), a comedy about gay identity and choosing to stop pretending. As someone who's been openly gay since, like 14 years old, I adored Ted's "we don't not care" speech. People want to be able to engage in and enjoy all aspects of their lives with the people they care about, and who care about them.
@markwood60568 ай бұрын
It's very true. As someone who came out in the early 80's. It seems really odd to me when I watch reactions where a character tells the "LGBTQ+ character" that they support them, and that they don't like it. Like they shouldn't even address it. Which if everyone was perfect then bringing that one aspect of a person shouldn't need to be spoken about. But let's face it people aren't perfect. When I came out and people came and told me that they supported me, it was a massive amount of emotional support. It made me feel for the first time since I was 8 (when I discover all the insults like fag, faggot, queer, homo, gay actually meant someone who likes th same sex, and I didn't have memories of not knowing that I like the same sex.). It's a powerful uplifting and freeing experience to not only behonest with others, but having others let you know that they care and support you. Only having my parents fully accept and state their love and support was a more powerful moment for me in my nearly 60 years of life.

There is a captain appointed by the club (normally the manager/coach). But the rules state that the team must have a captain on the pitch, so in the case of absence of the captain, the vice-captain or someone else takes over the role for that game, but the team captain remains the same.

@johntate65378 ай бұрын
Also, also (I know, too many comments. Please forgive me!) I love the other really subtle nod to Roy's character even as a young man - after a player has 'battered' him 'properly' and he's been invalided out of the game for a significant amount of time, his first instinct on seeing that player again is not to retaliate or ignore him but to take the first opportunity offered to him to apologise for his bad-taste joke. There are so many signs throughout the series that there was always a huge amount of good and kindness in Roy, and that what Ted, Keeley and Rebecca did for him was not to install some new part of his personality but to give him permission to let that side of himself out. You realise increasingly that he was always destined to be the one who hugged Jamie when he needed it the most.

@oncer.blossom_swe05388 ай бұрын
The red card can also depend on the severity of the offence (I’m pretty sure), so Isaac’s red would probably have earned him a few more games suspension, but that’s not decided until afterwards
@CJB028 ай бұрын
2 yellows also mean you miss the next match, but that’s typically it. A straight red card can result in a player being suspended for more than 1 game depending on what they are being punished for (violent conduct, dissent etc).

I suspect that part of Isaac's cold shoulder response to Colin throughout the episode came from confused and angry feelings towards himself, for not figuring it out, for learning the secret the way he did, and for how he responded to it. I think he needed to process his own feelings as much as what he'd learned before he was ready to engage directly with Colin over the whole situation, and the longer he took to do so, the harder it got, probably because he was at least a little ashamed at himself for how he found out, how he responded in the moment, and how he'd continued avoiding Colin since then. The perceived lack of trust was foundational to the problem, but I suspect he also needed to really look at himself and question whether Colin had been right to hide it from him. And I think that's why he took Colin's little jab at Issac for getting him outted within a month in stride, it was his way of accepting some responsibility for their temporary falling out too.

Roy's press conference might be in the top 2 or 3 individual scenes in the entire series. It SO dials in to Roy's true potential as a coach and as a human being. The incredible scene with Roy and Rebecca on top of that (and the interesting fact that at the end of Roy's story at the press conference its REBECCA'S reaction the camera focuses on and not really Keeley's reaction is also key). And the stuff between Isaac and Colin on top of all of that? Extra gravy.

Okay so I absolutely ADORE talking about Isaac and Colin in this episode so get ready. IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE FACT THAT COLIN LIED. Isaac says "You lied to me for years" but he also says "What is it about me that made you think you couldn't tell me" and my ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED BRAIN connected the two and listen. Colin lied to Isaac (I mean, it's not really lying because everyone has the right to come out when, if, and how they want to but lets focus on how Isaac saw it) and so yes he's probably thinking about all the times Colin said he was with a girl or talked about flirting with girls with he team and was probably upset that his friend had been keeping this huge secret, and yes he was also probably feeling guilty and like HE had done something wrong or was mad at himself for not being 'trustworthy' enough, but also the two can be CONNECTED. Among those other things, I think that it's also important to not that Colin is Isaac's BEST FRIEND. They probably tell each other pretty much EVERYTHING (the way that they talk so casually at the end suggests this). SO, upon realizing that Colin hadn't trusted him with this huge secret, there was probably a part of him thinking that Colin did not value him or their friendship. "You lied to me" He must've felt that this bond, this thing that was so important to him, maybe wasn't reciprocated, or wasn't even real. "What is it about ME that made you think you couldn't tell me." Why was I not good enough. Why was our FRIENDSHIP not good enough. To Isaac, he see's this huge secret and doesn't see the essence of the secret itself, but the idea that Colin does not trust him, and that, maybe, this huge important part of his life was all a lie. I really hope I did an okay job at explaining this because I have so much trouble putting it into words.
@korganrocks39957 ай бұрын
I think the best friend aspect is something that people can miss first time around, since they were minor side-characters in the first season, but re-watching the show you notice that Isaac and Colin are practically attached at the hip. I think a red card gets you at least a one match suspension along with definitely an ejection from the current match. I could be wrong. It may depend on the severity of the offense. Isaac is still the team captain, but there has to be a captain on the pitch as well. Remember in the first season, Roy handed it off to Isaac because he didn't start the final match. Then when he came on in the second half, Isaac gave it back to him. Then subsequently Roy handed it back when he got injured.

Americans reactions to the fan saying the "F word" 😂😂 It's completely normal for fans to say these stuff in European stadiums; that & the racist shit. They threw bananas at black players, say stuff that made the players cry & even led to the referee to stop the game for those chants. That's why the players said "it's nothing we haven't heard before" & their old coach said "it doesn't matter what was said, you don't do that". I'm not saying it's ok for them to do that stuff, I'm saying it's normal.

There seems to be more racist and homophobic incidents in Europe than the US, especially in countries like Spain and Italy. At least when I'm reading articles and looking up scores of football matches and come across another incident lately it's been Spain and Italy. Barcelona player Vinicius Jr. has been the target of multiple racist verbal attacks just this season. I know in the Premier League they've had problems at some stadiums with fans chanting homophobic slurs at opposing players. Some areas, whether by country or by regions of a country, are worse than others. In North America, fans of the El Tri Mexican National Team are known for chanting a gay slur, usually when the opposing keeper is kicking the ball down the pitch after a stoppage. Last time I watched the US vs Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League Final they had to stop the match and issue a warning, as are the protocols in place now. They kept doing it so they stopped the match again and this time took a time break of either 5 or 10 minutes before restarting the match. They again resumed play after the allotted time passed and they did it again. The second step is to have the players go into the locker room for 10-15 minutes and then start play again, but since it was in extra time with the match nearly over and the US winning 2-0, they blew the final whistle a bit earlier to just end the match. The third step is to suspend the match. So it does happen on this side of the pond as well.
