I mean it makes sense. even Immortal was the opinion that Omni-Man must be controlled by someone else or something. he also has a loving family, a pretty perfect life, has been a hero for probably at least 18+ years and now suddenly he just goes around and destroys the the strongest superhero group out there? In a lot of ways everything points AWAY from Omni being the prime suspect. sure, it might seem suspicious that he alone is alive, but there could be many what ifs. what if Omni man managed to fight off the assailant to a draw? What if whoever was the enemy might run on some kind of short battery span, which is why he never finished off omni? in a world of superheroes jumping to the immediate "obvious" conclussion might be a wrong move. for us it's obvious, but not always for them. tho the demon/Hellboy character seems to be the only one on the right track.

Omni Man can live hundreds of years and the lives of humans did not matter to him except for his half human son and his earth wife. So killing the guardians was literally nothing to him, he's a planet conquerer, it's his job. It's only after fighting his son when his son found out about the killings that Omni Man realizes he cannot carry out his plans to conquer earth. Then we get good guy Omni Man again... A lot of betrayal in this series... Omni Man is the only the tip of the ice berg.

Yeah, he deeply regretted it in the Season 1 Finale. You know the scene when he beats the shit out of Mark to near death? He then had a flashback to when Mark was a kid, winning his first baseball game. Even when he asked Mark what he would have in the next 500 years, Mark told him he'd still have him, which shocked Nolan. So yeah, he always tells himself he's "following orders", but then he realizes he truly cares about his family and friends.

The fact that this is actually a really touching speech coming from omni man. He took the time to make a convincing and heartfelt eulogy for the guardians HE killed, and it actually would make anyone watching this clip without knowing the horrors of what he did feel bad for him. Usually you can tell if a villainous character doesn't actually feel bad about the death of people they killed in a funeral and can see through their facade (For example, in the lion king, when Scar killed Mufasa and is giving out a speech about him, you can tell he doesn't feel truly upset or broken up about his brother's death cause he killed him, even if you only watch the memorial scene without knowing the context, you can tell Scar isn't feeling sad.) This is how you write a clever villian. They take the time to carefully choose what to say and how they word it.
