4:00 Are you sure this is MagSafe, not MagSafe 2? Because I want to by it on Amazon and there is an information about DC -> MagSafe 2 cable. It means that it's not for 2015 and older, like you said, but also for my 2017 Macbook Air for example.

BTW, what you got is not retail. On the Indiegogo campaign you only got one converter tip and if you purchased the DC upgrade, you got to choose between the MagSafe 2 cable or the SurfaceBook cable.

Maybe it is retail because it did come with all of those extra tips in the case? Especially at a suggested $299 retail price point, it better come with all of those! I received mine today and just got what I somewhat randomly selected as an "upgrade" during the crowd fund campaign. Unfortunately either I did not see the surface pro charge cable or it was not offered so I'll have to buy that separately...ahh well.

Hi David--I have the Omni 20 (ordered Pro with DC out, so I assume that it morphed into "20" at retail). I can't seem to get DC Out to work. Did you get a chance to try out that feature? If so, how do I use the OmniCharge's DC Out. My computer is a Surface Pro 4, and I have the included SP4 DC cable.

Answered my own question: DC out only turns on from the menu. Specifically, it only turns on after 1) the omnicharge is connected to the computer, then 2) voltage is set from the DC Out menu. If you disconnect the OmniCharge, then DC Out stops, and you have to start over. Anyway, crisis averted. I was not looking forward to potentially waiting another lifetime to get a replacement. Noticed that the production model is slightly different than the test model they showed for the campaign--namely the DC out port is not on the same side as the AC connection. And, it's the same port as the OmniCharge's charging port.

Hey JB. DC Out is tricky. Go through the little manual that came with it and it will tell you how to get into the DC out program mode. You have to select the proper voltage for your Surface Pro. Look at the VDC on your SP4 adapter and then match that on the OmniCharge.

Yep, you got it! I've done a couple of days worth of testing to finalize the review. Can you give me some feedback on the SP4 charge? Drain the SP4 down to a normal low level. 10% or so and then charge it up with the OM20. Tell us how much % is left on the 20. That, and do the fans kick up annoyingly loud? I'm doing the same with my devices and now I'm testing some comparison products to wrap it all up.

Update on my experience with the Omni20/SP4 combo, so far. I ran my battery down to the 6% battery level warning. I turned off my SP4 and let it charge. The full charge took about two hours at 15v DC. My Omni started at "100%" but I noticed that the WH number was in the high 50s--probably need to cycle the OM20 a few time to get it to settle in to a more consistent reading. By the end of the charge, my Omni was drained to about 10% capacity--forgot to note the WH number left over. The Omni did not get too hot, and I did not notice fan noise. During my time using it, I have heard the fan once after putting my SP4 under heavy load while using the OM20. I had to put my ear up to the fan to hear it. As far as charging goes, the OM20 performs very well, but it does not do so well being charged via USB or via a solar panel. Those methods take forever. The OM20 can probably get close to a full charge via USB overnight. With a solar panel from inside of a car, it would probably take several days to get a full charge. Have not tested my solar panel out at full power yet--was getting a current under 10W when charging from inside my car, maybe closer to 5. The panel I was using should be able to do 18 or 20W max, so we'll see how well that works when I use it outside in direct sunlight.
