Sorry, but I think Zidanne and Tidus's final limit breaks are not as satisfying to execute in battle as Cloud and Squall's. Grand Lethal and Blitz Ace don't have the wow factor that Omnislash and Lionheart has.

the problem with Grand Lethal is that by the time you can use it, its already useless. Had it done something like Lionheart or even Blitz Ace it might have been a bit more useful. A single hit doing 9999 damage in the later fights is really useless.

Looking at Grand Lethal, it's become more clear to me that it's an imperfect Ultima. Kuja uses Ultima because he has a mastery over magic. Zidane uses energy attacks in his Trance because he likely has just as much potential, but never trained for magic use.

I've always been a huge fan of Lionheart - and Squall, lol. But seriously, the attack is extremely devastating and Squall is able to access his more often than the rest of the party. Flashiness aside, you can usually rely on Lionheart to finish off the enemy; with Squall at level 100 and 255 strength, there's a chance two uses of it could even defeat Ultimate Weapon. The only downside to it is that you never know which Finisher Squall will get, and it doesn't always hit 8 times. Nevertheless, it's my favorite Limit Break. I do love the visual appeal, and the "dash through his enemy and cause an explosion" aspect is always a plus! 8 hits with Renzozuken + a grand total of 18 with Lion Heart _(counting the impact damage when the enemy hits the ground)_ = Overpowered and awesome!

I have to give it to Squall not on damage, number of hits or anything like that. I like the sword combo, and his is much more fluid than Cloud's. Omnislash looks very jerky, and overall just feels like Cloud is going "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH!" on someone. Lionheart, on the other hand, is very practiced, controlled and fluid. It feels like a legit sword form that he trained hard to be able to do right. That and the finisher is just spectacular.

Wow... I have to say... seeing them all lined up together like this, I can honestly say that when compared to Cloud and Squall... Zidane and Tidus just don't measure up. I mean sure Tidus can do WAY MORE damage than either Cloud or Squall ever could, but its the appearance of things that matters. I mean if they all had access to the "BreakDamageLimit" ability, then Cloud's ultimate attack would be hitting for 1,499,985 damage, and Squall's ultimate attack would be hitting for 1,699,983 damage (and that isn't counting the initial Renzokuken), where as Tidus' would be doing at most 899,991 damage, and Zidane's would be doing a measely 99,999 XD Seriously, Squall and Cloud have by far the superior limit break from purely a number of consecutive hits perspective. There isn't necessarily a better one between Cloud and Squall, because although Squall's actually hits more times, it occurs more randomly and is as such less reliable than Cloud's Omnislash.

It has a break damage limit... on Eden. If you calculate damage per second, that's broken really easily by more mundane methods of attack. You can deal more damage/RL second by just pressing attack on high speed characters. (Also Shockwave Pulsar... which takes a turn per execution. However, it's a limit break, and loses plain up to any guy limit break. Even with a crap Zell input speed like mine.)

In the contest of overall hits, Lionheart wins. Lionheart amounts a total of 17 hits alone. And depending on the fight, Renzokuken can hit 8 times. Depending on his crisis level. (i.e: His health level + situation) He can hit from 4-8 times on a normal fight. But during special boss fights. You can get him to hit 8 guaranteed. Tally in the fight with Ultimecia + Griever fight, you got 25 hits right then and there. And easily beating both Tidus and Cloud in overall damage. (That is, if you play by 9999 cap with FFX). Lionheart is superior to the other limit breaks. And sadly Grand Lethal doesn't stand a chance to any of them, due to the lack of multi-strike attacks. Grand Lethal however is likely going to be your party's "Ultima" attack. Often going to be the first ability you have that will hit damage cap. And it's not bad to see. However I think the developers wanted to tone down the damage and health a bit. And I can't lie that the addition of another party member is plausible reason. The game had set character classes and abilities that FF7, FF8, and FF10 all allowed you to play like you wanted to play. Final Fantasy 9 was more strategy based on your party and focused on the importance of leveling the entire team. Rather than one character.

Thank you for making this and giving good explanations. I wish they put as much effort into how Lion Heart looks as they did with the special Renzokuken sequences. Seeing Squall go nuts on X-ATM092, Jumbo Cactuar, Elnoyle, Bahamut and the Weapons is great. I also wish they changed the interactiveness of Renzokuken when used on Seifer to make it like a duel in which they traded slashes with Squall being hit if your timing wasn't precise. Seifer's limit ought to work like that, too.

Death 13th Renzokuken + Lionheart beats Omnislash every time. Lionheart is single target whereas Omnislash is random AoE if multiple enemies are present and can waste hits via overkill.

Luxai Mako energy and Jenova cells aslo are important factors. In Advent Children, Cloud and Sephiroth just look like some kind of monster that can cut the building like butter, and they didn’t even use any materia when they fight. But I have to admit that Lionheart look great when it deal more hits than Omnislash(original). However, for me in FF Series Omnislash Ver.5 still look coolest.

@ArykvonStraln True, which is why he's my favorite classic FF Charactaters. Plus, there were times in his respected story line where he got depressed, as well as conflict with fellow teamates(before they started working as a team), but he still managed to deal with it and get the job done.

+Vic 2.0 I agree, LH is the best and Squall is an underrated badass just because he dressed emo and acted edgy in the first half of the game (he had a lot more character development and became a lot cooler after the second half). In Dissidia if you have Cloud (comp) fight Squall (comp) Squall almost always wins. I believe Squall also wins in Kingdom Hearts 2 if you stand back and just let them fight each other instead of helping either (though Cloud's design in KH2 was pretty badass) but I can't remember. Here's a comp level 101, fight and difficulty levels 9 in Dissidia: /watch?v=BMGaykF6ZD4 -Squall beats his ass in about 35 seconds. Basically Squall would win any day of the week against Cloud. Mind you, Squall has been "watered" down ridiculously in KH. When he fights, see Squall's blade? That's called the Blasting Zone technique; that would increase the length of his blade to the point that it would pierce the circumference of the world. In other words, compared to the earths circumference, it was bigger. But no, it's only a bit bigger than Clouds Buster sword KH2. And you know that little spinning attack that Squall does when he fights? That's called his "Fated Circle" which WOULD manifest several orbs of atomic energy that not only draw in his foes, but also implodes on impact. And that's just one version of it. It has another. My point is, Squall was VERY "watered" down, while they gave Cloud his limit break in KH. Squall doesn't even use his Lionheart. Squall is superior in combat and in character. Why else would they pit Squall against Sephiroth in the intro of Dissidia ( /watch?v=EAaLgaw0MQk )? Because even without mako energy, Squall did a better job. But of course, it's what I always say; "It's a wolfs world out there, but the Lions rule it." Though I must say, I think Zidane was one of the coolest characters in the FF series. The way he got the Princess in the end was player status to the fucking max.

Numbers in general were smaller in FFIX. Enemies didn't have as much HP (the superboss Ozma only had like 65,535 HP I think), there weren't any crazy multi-hit attacks like Omnislash, Lionheart, or Knights of the Round, and if I remember correctly it was very difficult to get your standard attacks to hit for above 4000 or so (with the exception of some of Vivi's best spells). So Grand Lethal's one-hit 9999 attack might not seem so impressive, but it's definitely a badass move in its context.

We shouldn't be talking about numeric power output, actually. FFIX toned it down tremendously, the secret boss has only 65k-ish HP. And Zidane doesn't even need to use one of his Trance techniques in case he's been stealing stuff off of many enemies. Calling that into perspective, multi-hit skills would have been really overpowered in this game. But this is making Eiko, Vivi and, to an extent, Garnet really powerful magic users during Trance. Imagine either of them taking away 20k HP every turn by spamming attack spells. That's almost one third of the HP the secret boss has. Then you have Garnet, who kindly just dumps everything over and will unleash summons every turn unless you deplete her Trance gauge. Just let her keep doing stuff until the next turn would end your Trance and wait it out while she keeps doing nothing while neither wasting MP, nor Trance. She's virtually a massacre button if you know what you're doing. Squall will still get wrecked by Omega Weapon, and Cloud will still get wrecked by Ruby Weapon. (Unless you know what you are doing.) But putting this into the perspective of a smaller scale of damage numbers, enemy HP in total etc. - looks like the FFIX girls and Vivis kill it more than any Cloud, Squall or Tidus will. Bigger numbers don't mean nothing in that scale, and I know this sounds like a dick joke. But I'll go with that. I like dick jokes.

Statistically, Lion Heart is the strongest within the mechanics of their own game, even without factoring in Renzokuken. Not only does it has the most hits but it also hits the hardest per hit, much harder than Omislash and it can crit while Omnislash can't. Downside is that its the hardest one to pull off. They're all weaker and less reliable than Zell's Duel and Rinoa's Angel Wings though.

Dallin Nguyen I actually wonder how much damage he can do without the limit cap. Someone might be able to make a cheat device code to bypass the limit while still showing the true correct math of the damage he should be doing. But I doupt he'll reach 20,000 with max 255 strength.

I know that, but this was based on not only the damage in the video, but if every attack did its absolute max damage. In other words, FF7-FF9 can do a max of 9999 damage. In FF10, break damage limit was introduced. That's why I said Squall would win if there was no break damage limit.

As i said the only reason its stronger is because it hits more times then Omnislash. Love the bonus clip, man. The first time that hit me, I was blown away. Terra Break and Megiddo Flame were.. Real scary. Leonheart ftw, fuck Omnislash. Blitz Ace is pretty cool. Grand Lethal... Well, as you said in description, limit breaks (or whatever ff9 called them) were a very different beast from FF7-8 Limits, and FFX Overdrives. They just weren't on the same level.
