Love the song now even more after seeing the cover... 😍 Gotta learn that one day (taidot ei oikein vielä riitä 😶). Though I'm already dead cos you killed me. I died from laughter, I don't think I have to explain exactly when that happened... 🤣 Best air whammy ever. 🤣
3 жыл бұрын
Haha, I had to do it, because why not 😆 I think that even the tapping part in the intro is possible to learn without years of guitar playing. If you play weekly, just give that part like two to five minutes time, as a warm up or smth. Repeating short practice daily will eventually get your muscles and nerve system used to it, that has been my way to learn things. Nowadays there's not as much time as before... 😅
@molekyyli3 жыл бұрын
@ Well, sure you don't see air whammy in use just so every day. 🤣 I started just 4 m ago, so this is just simply really above my skill level. :)) Though, I do think I should be able to master the part from 4.45 to 5.13 pretty easily. 🤔🤣 On top of being an absolute beginner, add bad organization skills (regarding time use) and troubles with my guitar (the only one and I do hope I get it resolved soon, so far have been failed by two supposed "professional" techs, gonna try a luthier next. The main issue is exactly with that part that's "missing" from your guitar but tbh it's not or might not be the only one). I did choose to learn one of OG's songs (The Frontline) but that's gonna be a tough challenge regardless. Haven't found a cover of that anywhere, apparently either I'm the only one who likes that song or everybody is scared of that solo (I was told by the guy who transcribed the song for me that it's pretty hard). I can't really comment on that, I found almost everything hard, so. 🤣 But as you can see, I had to subscribe and gotta check out what else you have. :))

Do you mean your guitar's bridge? Is it broken? I remember when I started playing guitar - I didn't have brains to get the strings tuned properly, since the guitar had the floating bridge, aka floyd rose. I bet there are tutorial videos in youtube for anyone to resolve that case, but I think you have something else..?
@molekyyli3 жыл бұрын
@Not sure what you mean by "something else" but I have what you could call a "broken bridge" aka improperly working Floyd Rose (licensed (Ibanez) "typical" issue of not staying in tune if whammy used) and have no idea ATM what's exactly is the problem. I recently set it up (just corrected the angle on the bridge, didn't attempt to do the whole setup) but the angle changed a bit on its own from the position I set it in (and not even using the whammy). So maybe I pushed it with my hand down and it got stuck in another angle - so not floating freely - not returning to zero as it should, maybe?? From what I've gathered a lot of bridges made around the time my guitar was made were equipped with too thick knife edges that often prevent free floating and need to be addressed. But there are like ten other possible things to check also and to rule out besides the basic stuff like a wrong setup. If the guitar was what the ad said - "gone through an extensive maintenance and setup, fresh strings and ready to rock" there would be very little issues despite me being a beginner (if you know how to google, basically - all I thought I would need to learn within the first 6 months would be how to tune it and how to change strings and worry about adjustments or doing the whole setup later). I won't say tuning it has always been fun (but the days needing zero tuning are nice :)) but... that was to be expected when purchasing a FR. And one of the main downsides, the impracticality of changing tuning, I resolved by getting a pitch shifting pedal (a very handy solution for bedroom guitarists IMO :)), the only limitation is if I wanted a dropped tuning (any) that would require retuning cos on my guitar you can't easily fit the EVH D-Tuna without making an extra hole in the guitar body for it (not wanna do that). But there's enough material in standard tunings until I have more guitars, so... not a big deal, really. (I believe I can imagine pretty well how frustrating it must be for someone who couldn't get any help after buying a FR and had to figure it out on their own how it works. I def wouldn't recommend purchasing if having no idea what it is and what to expect, I think I've even heard about some people quitting, so...) If you wanna laugh, the most recent "fun" tuning time was when - after adjusting action - I forgot to lock the inner screws (this is only relevant to a few certain Ibanez models) and if you forget to do that, you won't ever get the guitar in tune. I was kinda tired while doing that, so it took me quite some time to wake up and realize why the heck I can't get it in tune no matter what. 🤣 I felt pretty stupid upon realizing it... 🤣 So, from my point of view, it's not that much me - beginner who's the problem but the fact that it wasn't in the advertised condition. Sure, a more experienced player would test the trem right away and not waited like me but I do think this bridge might have an issue going beyond just needing a setup... so not necessarily easy to fix even for somebody with more experience than me. I did first hope getting another setup would fix it but nope. The bridge was in a similarly wrong angle as it was originally. Apparently neither of those two had any idea that it's the base plate that needs to be parallel and not the upper line (which is in a different angle than the base plate...). This bridge was introduced in 1991 and it's not some rarity, they still put these on new guitars, so come on...!!! 🙄 So, I adjusted the bridge angle myself but upon testing it still doesn't work right - and as I said above, later it changed angle "on its own" which it shouldn't do. Since I feel this might be quite challenging to find out on my own what's exactly wrong, I contacted the local luthier and I do hope he can help me to figure it out and fix it. It's one of the higher-end bridges so the reason shouldn't be low quality materials (at least I've heard you can quite easily damage the budget bridges badly and not sure if you can fix those or if it's worth fixing) but yeah, it's old and certain pieces might be worn out and needing replacement. I'm actually very intrigued to find out what the problem is and fix it instead of just blocking the bridge for once and all (I know very well I could just do that and be done with it). The only thing I regret so far is the money paid for bad setups. And my surprise to find out that the one who were supposed to be professionals are not. Especially when the second brushed me off with saying he's been doing this for 40 years after I tried to point out that I felt the bridge angle was wrong (the first setup)...
@molekyyli3 жыл бұрын
@ And well. I ended up buying a guitar with a FR cos I'm a lefty and picky and was pretty specific about what I wanted and didn't find that with a fixed bridge. If I were "normal" (right-handed), I'm pretty sure it would've been easy to find something I liked and avoid FR. I knew very well FR is not recommended for beginners but simply chose to ignore it and take the challenge. :P I would've wanted a FR at some point anyway but... In my head it didn't go that way that upon the 3rd month mark I'm gonna have to start study how to do setups and a lot about issues related to the FR beyond knowing how to tune it and how to change strings.
