Besides, ambulance sirens is heard after SUNNY'S moves out. I mean they discovered BASIL's corpse, said OHNOHONOHNO then they go back to sleep, then they wake up and checked up what's up with BASIL and said "Yup, still dead. Lets call ambulance".

I don’t think it would fit. The ending is more about coming to terms with things, but he still has trauma and the game knows that. It works better that nothing is behind him. It’s him. He’s doing this by himself.

It'd be a miracle if they all remained friends after the truth comes out but a lot of people agree it'd take years before they all move on enough for that to happen. That's where the real test of their bonds begins. Sunny moving away isn't a bad thing. They're all about to be adults anyways so they'll have the freedom to reunite once they've had their space to focus on themselves and heal. Narratively yes we'd all like to think after the truth comes out, Sunny begs his mom to stay and within a year theyre all fine, but that's just not this kinda story, and I love it for that.

The scariest thing about all of this is Sunny's lack of emotions (Spoiler warning) After hallucinating his dead sister playing the piano, he doesn't look any different in the mirror. After hearing about one of his best friends' suicide, there is nothing but a blank expression on his face. Being in the same room as Basil during his total breakdown, Sunny doesn't show any response when he looks in the mirror. His blankness (alongside OMORI's) is the creepiest of all to me

I think that's the result/sign of a severe mental illness. I used to have that back then before I got diagnosed long ago. At some point, you'll get reaction delay because you're too used to bottle things up. Even if you want to feel sad, or angry, you just can't because you subconciously bottle them up instead till you finally have a mental breakdown, and let everything out. EDIT: and it depends how long till you reach the mental breakdown part.

SPOILERS I actually think at 3:05 that it was never even scary to begin with when Sunny looked through the mirror and saw a very tall Mari reminding him of how he robbed everyone of their happiness and succumbing to the intricate lies he had created. It was rather an attempt by Ghost Mari(not the hell Spawns inside Sunny's head) to say in the mirror (even though we never see her face) that even though he pushed her hanged her and left to rot near the tree she never harbored any resentment and that she understood that Sunny didn't mean to push her off and it was an accident. I think in the aftermath of her death Ghost Mari understood that she pushed him too far for him to do something he didn't want to achieve and that led her to her own death and it's all because of her own perfectionist attitude that doomed her in the first place. Realizing this Mari wanted to apologize In the cutscenes(through the piano) that she was sorry for pushing him on the brink and that she has forgiven him and in the end even though she is not with sunny physically she will be there spiritually and that he needs to forgive himself which did only happened once before sunny plunged himself into hallucinations and nightmares of different Mari's not realizing that Mari did infact visited him to stop Sunny from beating himself more and convincing him to accept that she was gone and that he needed to move on and be happy. That's how I interpret it

Rewatching and I definitely think that Mari was hanging behind him, god. If you look at the very next Hellmari mirror scare, shes only a little bit taller than Sunny (look at their shoulders) That would be her actual height. But then at 3:11, she is MUCH taller than him. Thats what i think too, but its really doubtable, im pretty sure not. In the real world where sunny lives, there is no current proof that actual magic or ghosts excist. it is all in sunny's head, and the jumpscares/hallicunations are a way of himself scaring/(hurting) him because he thinks its all his fault for mari's death and everyone suffered because of that. Hero COULD just be really missing Mari and hallucinating when he used to play the piano but the fact that hero banged in at the EXACT SAME TIME sunny DECIDED to go inside also goes counter that fact. i guess its a detail we will never learn about haha
