*Story:* Omori was originally a series of tumblr posts called Omoriboy made by Omocat in December 2011, which later became a short webcomic named Omori in August 2013, however the webcomic was scrapped and subsequently kickstarted into a video game in 2014 set to release sometime in 2020. Omori is a psychological horror RPG that follows the life of Omori, a pessimistic boy who lives in White Space; a never-ending box of blank space which consists of a laptop, a tissue box, a blanket, a cat and a light bulb that hangs from the sky. In Omori's past, he had 3 friends: Kel, Hero and Aubrey. He used to go on all sorts of wacky adventures with the 3 of them, however, something happened between the past and the present that landed him in White Space, where he is no longer able to visit his friends. The game is about Omori trying to discover how he ended up in White Space by traveling through his memories in his dreams, which is explains why his adventures contain floating cats and multicolored monsters. The gameplay swaps between the real world and the dream world, where the dream world is a place of eternal happiness and the real world is a monochrome box of horror. In the end, you have to decide which world is the dream world and which world is the real world. *EDIT:* I've noticed a lot of people are asking where to find the webcomic, so here's the link: www.omocat-blog.com/post/57264870461/omoriboy-omoris-story-omoris-sketchbook-omori (This is the comic shown in the video) However, there is another webcomic for Omori called OmoriBoy, which is a collection of Omori in different situations with simple statements: www.omoriboy.com/ (This gives you some insight to Omori's character) *EDIT 1 YEAR LATER:* The Omori demo has been released! It's only available to Kickstarter members but there are plenty of gameplay videos on KZbin. *EDIT 2 many years later:* Oh damn the game actually came out. Go check it out if you’re interested

1:49 hurts really hard for some reason. Imagination is... a gift, and yet a curse. Many, like myself, create fantasy worlds, with new people, infinite possibilities, anything you could’ve wanted. You sometimes visit them in your dreams, or think about it during your pastime. You find it enjoyable, like it’s something you could do forever and ever and not get bored. Until you snap back into reality, and realize and remember that it’s all fake. You realize how your life actually is, that it’s sometimes not worth living... we’ve all had moments exactly like the ones portrayed in the video. Once you realize it, it’s said. ... do you ever just get so sad, like you want to cry, but can’t? Or have you ever gotten angered, but you didn’t show it? We’ve gotten used to this. We’ve been numbed. Now we sometimes don’t even feel basic emotions, or at least we don’t even show that we’re feeling them.

This is sad, but I can't seem to stop watching it. It's sad how the main character in the game is colored black, but everything in his imagination is colorful and fun, and when he goes back to reality, he's sad because he imagination isn't real. I hope that depressed or suicidal people that watch this does not feel worse, but rather feel happy that at least their imagination can help them keep going on, even just a little bit, and just keep moving forward.

Release your imagination into the world. Don't keep that shit locked up in your head, man. Tell people about your dreams and aspirations. Make a bucket list, have goals, make plans, leave your room once in a while. Step out of your comfort zone and do things you're terrified of doing, and then keep on doing it so you can build some confidence. Build some momentum in your life so you feel like you have some meaning and do your absolute best to keep that momentum going. Don't get stuck in a hole of depression, take meds if you have to but for Christs sake *just keep moving.* Unless your dreaming about becoming a unicorn or some shit, you can absolutely make your imagination a reality. You just got to put effort into it. *AND CLEAN YOUR GODDAMN ROOM.*

this is my favorite version of this song. It makes me feel so... Peaceful yet sad. It gives me a bittersweet feeling. I'm always daydreaming and when I do I get taken to my own little world that I find to be perfect. There's no struggles, there is just peace all around. But when I have to come back to reality, I watch my little world fade away, and I left in the real world... Where there is hardly any world peace. This song is bittersweet and I love it.
@patitopatoso1116 жыл бұрын
I daydream a lot too and its so fun, I hate it when I have to focus on the real world because I have to get out of my magic world, but like... its not that I hate the real world. Im a realistic person but I always give this realistic and raw point of view a bit of optimism. You see, life can sometimes be hard but its not like that always, we just most of the times we dont appreciate the things that really should be appreciated. Instead, we spend our lives worrying and worrying, doing nothing, just saying there and saying to us "I cant, I cant" and if your attitudes is going to be like that, of course real life sucks, of course youre gonna be deppressed, of course you'd want to end it all... but its because most of the times you are too scared to see the world from a different point of view. What if instead of staying in your old boring and dark room you see every damn day of your life, you try to go out and do new things? Help people, donate to charities, have good talks with your friends, give love, be generous, meet new people, explore new places.... I dont know man, just.... live. Dont stay there, go out. Life is much more than a boring and dark place. Try to make the world as nice as the one we daydream of...

Le Tiara Arono Well, yeah, both are depressing. I think that the op was trying to say that this version is uniquely depressing. The Wonka version is about an adult trying to live vicariously through children in order to reconnect with his youth, when everything seemed fresh and magical, and the things he could imagine seemed limitless. This version is sort of the inverse of that, where a child is trying to live vicariously through his imagination in order to enjoy live a wonderful life he wished he had. But in the end, reality comes crashing back, just reminding him of how grotesquely lonely he is, and how life's mundanity is really only magical through rose-colored lenses. Well, that's just my take on the situation. Hopefully I'm not too far off.

Reality is so cruel, maybe that's why we have the gift of imagination, so we can escape the truth, and hide away in a dream, but no matter where you run, or how far you run, your past will always trail behind you, like a shadow. If imagination is light, then reality is darkness, and the as the light grows brighter and brighter, so does the darkness, it will darken, and darken, until you're so afraid to look at it, that you've lost the courage to turn around and see what it's become. But what if the light extinguishes? What if one day, you find yourself engulfed by the darkness, a night so black, that you can't see your own outstretched hand before your face? And what if you've forgotten the shape of your shadow, and it's become more than just a shadow, but a demon that you can't fight? What if, after all of your running, you can't find your way back anymore? Don't be afraid of your mistakes, don't run away, and make yourself go through the agony of having to constantly run, it's so exhausting, and you can't outrun it, you can't escape the world you're in, you'll always return, and wake up again, even if you believe that you've run far enough. It's okay to regret, it's okay to hate everything, but you're the only one who'll ever come close to truly knowing yourself, and you're the only person who will always be there, for yourself, even if it sounds stupid. Instead of closing your eyes, open them, and believe that your friends will forgive you, and always love you for what you are. You can take small steps, one step at a time, one step at a time, you are more amazing than you think. One day, you'll look back, and feel your heart skip as you realize just how far you have come, and the demon behind you will become a faint echo, it won't be gone forever, but you will be able to face it now, with a smile on your face, right? I believe in you Sunny, go get them! Live an amazing and happy life, for Mari, Basil, and everyone you love! Sunny supremacy :D

Being stuck in reality, no place other than the reality we live through when we're awake, an empty void casting its influence over your mind in your sleep will exhaust you as well. We'd consider those able to dream and explore their imaginations the lucky ones, at least they have a third option when it comes to life. The rest of us, we only have 2 options, and you probably know what those 2 options are. Survive for as long as possible, grit through the sludge of reality until our minds and wills give out, or condemn your soul to eternity by your own hands, in whatever form of cutting the tie and whatever destination you wish. Many have been "enlightened" in their uselessness in this reality, so they'll either succumb to the encroaching shadows telling that our time will only be over with our own hands, or to their special imaginations. _Life is never going to be easy,_ such a rich thing said by a teen with *no troubles and a nascent life.* *_Who'd care if we disappear from this world, we reason. Who'd truly be affected, we've never done anything good and so there'll be no one who cares, we reason. We've done nothing but hurt, be a burden, dragged those around us into personal hells. We're one in several billions, we can be replaced, easily and painlessly, we reason._* Ah... I'm whining again, trying to pick apart my perfect life without friends. Trying to fit with a crowd much stronger than any of my cries. It's my fault it's gone this "bad", it's my fault that I've become so arrogant as to think that my "troubles" are worth a penny to the demons of other people. There'll be nothing stopping me when the time comes. Before then, I'll be waiting for something to happen. In a dreamless, light-deprived sleep, foolishly whining about my "situation" while doing nothing about it. These kinds of people truly don't deserve to live.

When my best friends died i would have dreams about hanging out with them like everything was fine & i never wanted to wake up. One night near the end of that year i had a dream where they asked me if i was aware they're dead & this was a dream. It was some spooky shit. They told me i pretty much needed to stay with them & never wake up, or i needed to go out & live. They told me they wouldn't be offended ether way. If i chose to go, I could one day introduce them to the new friends i made after they left. I woke up in cold sweats & ended up throwing up. To pass time (i wasn't going back to sleep) i got on youtube & found this song suggested to me. At first i was sad seeing this person hang out with their friends, then it ended up that the person wasn't. the person was so wrapped up in a fantasy of being with friends who aren't actually there the person wasn't living. I ended up picking up my phone & calling a friend i hadn't really talked to since i graduated highschool & we ended up hanging out the next day. Flash forward a year & they ended up telling me about a weird dream that they had the night after we hung out. The thing was they now knew what my best friend looked like & it clicked that the person in their dream that night told them thank you but never gave them an explanation why. The dream was weird & stuck with her for some time because of that. (A stranger thanks you then walks away into the blackness. The entirety of the dream watching them get further & further away. ) This song though the tiniest step in my recovery, was part of my recovery. So thank you for not censoring yourself & putting your thoughts & ideas out there (to the artist of the video). Art affects a lot of people in a lot of ways, even if it's only a tiny bit. tiny bits can make the biggest difference.

There's nothing to it [Verse 2] There is no life I know To compare with pure imagination Living there, you'll be free, if you truly wish to be [Instrumental break] Chorus] If you want to view paradise Simply look around and view it Anything you want to, do it Want to change the world? Well, the game's based on the web series. I'd rather see this as something seperate to the games though connected, there's something bittersweet about people down here talking about their interpretation.
@szecr3 жыл бұрын
@@thestranger4894 what's the web series called?
@BioCraftHero3 жыл бұрын
@@szecr it’s called Omori, but also referred to as Omoriboy. It’s basically a blog about a boy named Omori who lives in this strange, empty, monochromatic area called the White Space. You can’t find it online in its original form but if you search “Omoriboy comic” you’ll probably find a video that showcases every post made on the original blog.

The original web series was a cool concept, but it seems that it didn't make it to the modern incarnation.
@jennyc57288 жыл бұрын
I feel like the ending was saying that the boy (Omori) was imagining his friends. They aren't real but just a product of his creativity and that the white space he lives in is a canvas. A blank slate for him, a new world. But one that is free from a reality known as the White Space (if it's even reality to begin with) he resides in. That's just my interpretation based off of this and what I saw in the Omori trailer. I like that this is going to be a psychological horror game, I hope that it ends up being released if it already hasn't.

It's great to see this finally reach 10 million views. I remember watching this as a kid years ago and thinking it was pretty sad, but seeing this again after I finished the game made me cried. OMORI is such a sad but beautiful piece of art, and I'm so grateful I got to experienced it for myself. OMORI will always have a special place deep in my heart for years to come. Thank you Omocat for making the comic and game, and thank you to the uploader of this video as well. Pure Imagination is literally the perfect song for OMORI.
@boggybeard3 жыл бұрын
I had the same sort of experience. I watched this when I was a kid a long time ago, likely not long after it was uploaded, I think it only had a million views or so. This video really impacted me. I don't know if I was in some kind of a depression or what, but this sent me to a weird world of imagination, I cried to this, imagining myself among the characters, imagining myself in my own world of pure imagination. Not sure if that's healthy for a kid, but that was me. At the time, of course, the game wasn't around. Only the original comics. I kept them close in my state of child-sadness, but they slowly faded from memory as I grew up. Only for them to re-emerge when the game released. To my great regret, I didn't play it for myself, (little embarrassed to say, but I'm not good with creepy games) But I watched a video that covered the whole story. It's probably better that way, I'm not sure if I could handle playing it myself. Anyway, sorry for blowing up your notifications, there's just a lot of emotions, and I don't know how to express them through words.
@awyehh3 жыл бұрын
@@boggybeard There's nothing for you to be sorry about, there's not a lot of games that can put you go through a roller coaster ride of emotions like OMORI, so it's completely valid to let out the emotions that game can gives you. It's amazing how OMORI can bring out all these emotions for so many people, and that should be greatly valued. I ugly cried at some parts of the game, but it still felt great to let out those emotions. I'm really glad OMORI was able to reached out to your emotions too. Even if we both experienced OMORI very differently, the emotions it gave us are the same and just as important.
@boggybeard3 жыл бұрын
@@awyehh Thank you. I've never expressed my feelings towards Omori like that before, I just wish I could've typed it out more eloquently. I sometimes think it's a little tedious to let a videogame impact your own life in such a way, but I need to remember, videogames can be art just as much as a piece of classical music, or a beautiful film. I think being vulnerable with your emotions is the key to experiencing art. It's also really nice knowing that Omori impacted so many people as well. (Looking at the comments, it seems that many here shared those emotions as we did. We can all ugly cry together!) And thank you for responding to my weird vent comment so nicely, it really made my day.
@awyehh3 жыл бұрын
@@boggybeard It's a huge honor that I made your day, honestly just hearing that alone made my day too. I'm just glad I could be here to tell you it's completely fine to have your emotions be so deeply affected by a game and by art in general, it helps us stay human and stay connected to our hearts and souls.

This reminds me of a close online friend who I talked with for 2 years, literally almost every week or every single day we always keep in touch. I have never feeling genuine happiness being with friend who understands me as a whole after experiencing so much betrayals and traumas from friendships. He literally changed my life, he always there with me. I idolized him a lot, he always be positive unlike me. We always treat each other like brother sister. Out of nowhere he just stopped contacting, ignoring my messages and have no clue what happened to him. I feel deep sadness as I rely on him as a family member, now everything just shattered into pieces within one second. Whenever I listen to this song, I've always having imaginations or memories flashbacks of all the moments we had. Bro, thank you so much for everything. As he said, appreciate every moment when you're with someone as nothing stays forever. But still I wish things can be back to normal and let's talk and have fun. I never get bored of staying with him any seconds. This music rhythms just brings tears to me, happiness and also sorrowness. It sounds crazy. Online friend could be like imaginations, but at some points it turns out to be sad thing to remember in reality when we can’t meet in real life. What a emotional roller coster i had with him.

Is it bad this makes me think of suicide??? That last part really makes it feel like that's the message here. That some people just don't wanna be here on earth anymore, nothing compares to the things that go on in our heads. And then when we realize what real life is like we no longer want to be alive, we want what's in our heads to be reality.

This video is so important to me, I watched it initially whenever it was first published, not knowing the full context, I was around eleven at the time and I thought it was so cool, and because of this video I love the song... But shortly after I watched it I could never find it again. And then two years ago whenever the game officially came out my girlfriend show me a let's play of it and I was utterly flabbergasted. I'm shocked, I told her that I knew what this was, that I'd seen it before. I couldn't recall from what it was, I was able to recite the lyrics and the song obviously because it's a popular song but both of us were clueless and the game ended up going to be one of my favorites. And I'm lucky, this video just happen to pop into my recommendation and as soon as I saw the thumbnail I immediately recognized it. It's really incredible. Thank you.
