Kyoto and Japan's most beautiful temples / Kyoto and Japan's oldest inns / Kyoto and Japan's most refined cuisine / Kyoto and the Michelin stars nobody wants / Kyoto and the last Geishas.
Omotenashi is Japanese hospitality at its finest. There is a relationship of equals between guest and host, based on mutual respect. The perfect host must recognize a guest's particular needs and meet them discreetly, without the guest needing to express his wishes explicitly. Traditional inns called ryokan, which provide this unique kind of hospitality, can still be found in Japan's ancient imperial city of Kyoto.
