I made the mistake of watching videos on the value of coins. Because two years later I have well over $2000 in coins. I try to go through them best I can but becomes over whelming. I found this penny over a year ago and immediately had this thought to see if it was valuable. This was an odd thought because that has never crossed my mind in the past when I have run across a beat up coin. Anyway, when I tried to see the value I was shocked at how many videos there are and that this is actually a hobby or a way to make money for a lot of people. Who knew?! :) I was floored and got excited. I have watched many videos and realize the chances this penny holds any real value is slim to none. However, I will never know if I don't ask. I believe that they coated steal with zinc for the year of 1943 to help get copper for the war effort. And they also used nickel so they made nickels with 30 % silver instead of nickel. So thats why there is what is called a war nickel. Identified with a big mint mark on the reverse of the coin. A big P, S, or D. On the reverse. You will know a war nickel when you see it.

Lot 4 1958 pennies, 3 with no mint marks and 1 with a “d” on the obverse The 1958 with a little gloss left is clearly a “DDO on the DATE and on the reverse , the letters “ONE CENT” is much thicker than normal. The 1958 penny that sold for over a million dollars in January of this year, was probably normal because if it was thicker than normal the auction house would have noted and displayed it. I would say that the condition of these pennies are at least fine/extra fine and -as mentioned one retains a little of of its original gloss. and I would grade it as extra/fine++ Starting bid: $1,500

Hello, I am a new "collector" if I could be called so, I have several collected coins, which some are picked up from the ground and others from cashiers and pocket change After reviewing several videos, I believe i can attest to have some double die, clear errors as indicated by some videos, and then other rarities. - I have one particular penny which I can not tell if it is a damage or a sliding striking accident during processes. This one is a Penny which seems like the copper over zinc has been cut up to the zinc base of the coin, either with a sliding stick or some small rotary tool. it seems like the copper covering its been sliced right open down the middle of one side of the coin like a the thick skin of an animal. - Yet, just for a short length of the coin. I was wondering if ever heard or saw something like it. You can see both colors of copper and zinc to both sides of the slice. Your feedback is appreciated. I thank you in advanced.
