I used to rush home after my paper round to watch these. Shame so many were wiped. There is a great 3dvd set available. Well worth buying.

I cannot believe these brilliant but somewhat risque sketches were intended for a CHILDREN'S TV show! I was a child when they were broadcast and remember thinking it was zany, silly humour. Most of the subtlety (?) passed completely over my head. Luckily. They would NEVER get this past the sensors these days!

I love it when they don't dumb things down for kids.

I rather think that precisely *because* this was pitched as a childrens' television programme, and was sent to the Childrens' Light Entertainment section for approval, very little attention was paid to the content and presentation of DNAYS. It must have all gone through on the nod, leaving the execs to get on with the important things - such as fighting for a bigger budget and decent office furniture. They would only have paid attention if letters of complaint had poured in but of course that didnt happen, because parents assumed that what their children were so avidly watching was just wholesome and childish silliness. And so the regular cast (and the Bonzos) were able to get away with a great deal more than they could have done five or ten years later ...
