Great video, Jonas! All important information and lots of great explanations regarding the unique features of this heli! I love that so many great details are to be found in the M4 and especially the M4 Max (tail boom and tail rotor section) and at the same time there are completely new features like the belt tensioners or the grease acess in the blade grips. You never stop surprising us pilots!! You once again developed a great new helicopter!! Congratulations!!

Great design and details! I love the idea of blade grip spacers! How does reducing the friction between the blades and the grips influence the lead-lag behavior of the blades?
@Johnny3129711 ай бұрын
Good question! Blades need to be able to move in the grip to compensate for coriolis force on tip path plane changes. If they cannot move smoothly, that will increase vibration levels and make the helicopter fly worse.
@nerpelb11 ай бұрын
@@Johnny31297 I’ve been thinking a lot about this. Let’s consider a thing: if we’d have a shaft in the grip supported by two bearings and the blade would be fixed to the shaft. There would be “no” friction when blades lead or lag but it wouldn’t be good because the blades could hit the grips at spool up. The bearings would still forward the lift from the blades to the head and the fuselage. So other than the grip hit at spool up, would a “frictionless” blade joint be beneficial during flight? Can you recommend some literature?

Hello, in the video you said that main gear is 110T but ratio with 11T pinion is 10.91:1, with 12T pinions 10:1 ... So there is a 120T main gear or wrong mentoined ratios?

Hi Jonas, don´t get me wrong 🙂I know that has been a hard work to be done to engineer such kind of a new 700 heli size, but honestly the design as well as the components and the shape is nothing that blows my mind now. The direct drive M1 and M2 OMP's are without any questions by far the best of in their class, but as mentioned in my opinion this does not apply for the M7 design. Therefore no reason for my to change from my Align TB60 and TB70.
