Every single thing I've heard this girl sing brings me to tears. I work in entertainment. Mainly live music. I've seen thousands of live performances. Never have I encountered a voice that has moved me like hers. She is truly special.

Yes, I don't know these people personally but it is no secret that they are so proud of her and that they give this small 'worrier' support as much as they can. Enzo is a classical violinist and, since he finished his violin study in Amsterdam, he is studying in Berlin to become even better as he already is. By the way, Emma also has an older sister, Sophie, and she can sing as well. They are a musical family indeed.

This was a beautiful performance by Emma, just sublime, and so good to see her looking so radiant, her determination to not let gastroparesis define her is just amazing, she's always so willing to talk about it, to make people aware of what it means, but she NEVER looks for any sympathy or to be made a special case because of it, she truly is a wonderful warrior, and shames us by her determination to live life to the full to the absolute limit of her ability. We had the joy of seeing her in a much smaller event at Geleen a few weeks earlier, and being so close to the stage was indeed wonderful, she blew us away, the songs were sung much slower, and the quality was stunning, and as always, Emma gave us her best, it was so much worth travelling for several hours to get to the venue, 4 hours that we won't forget any time soon, huge congratulations to Vico and Nathalie for doing everything that you can to encourage Emma, Enzo and Sophie, they are a massive credit to you both, thank you for being so willing to do everything that you do for all of them.

Je hoort en ziet het wanneer iemand een lied "voelt" tijdens het zingen ervan. En dan sleurt die zanger of zangeres, in dit geval Emma, alle toehoorders mee: kijk eens naar al die gezichten, mensen die voor een deel 'niets' met muziek hebben (en ik bedoel dat niet kwaad: zelf heb ik helemaal totaal niets met sport). Zet Emma op een podium en.... ze heeft de aandacht van werkelijk iedereen. Ook als ze niets met muziek hebben. Dat is meer dan talent, het is een gave die maar weinigen hebben/krijgen. Je hoeft daarvoor dus niet groot, lang, breed of imposant te zijn. Nee, helemaal niet. "Blaas een keer hard met z'n allen en Emma gaat finaal ondersteboven", om het zo maar te zeggen. Ik volg Emma nu ruim 1,5 jaar op KZbin en verbaas mij er steeds opnieuw weer over, over haar vocale capaciteiten én over de uitstraling die ze heeft zodra ze op een podium gaat staan. Je kan werkelijk de vrijheid die ze dan voelt (in het hieraan voorafgaande interview legt ze dat uit) met haar meevoelen.

You describe very well what it is like to watch Emma sing, for music fans or not. Also on Emma's size. I know the stats but Emma walked past me in flat shoes when she came into the concert hall in Geleen 3 weeks ago, she was less than a metre away. I was surprised just how tiny she is, not just her height but she has a tiny frame - I cannot figure out where all that power and projection comes from!! Fortunately in terms of her talent Emma is a giant among us. I watched 'Carrie on Friday' and this interview live on NPO Start on Friday, which I can get in the UK, but I was only able to translate some of the points in general terms. I know she talked about her career so far, her gastroparesis, freedom on stage, singing costing energy but getting energy back from doing it. I THINK she said about her dream of singing and getting good feedback from the public / audiences but I'm not sure? I also think there here was a large part about the practical side of managing her condition on tour and her struggles but I'm not certain - some of this was discussed when they showed her walking across the Vrijthof square when it was set up for the summer concerts. I know she was asked about how she deals with school while on tour and Emma explained about the World School online. I think she jokingly said "school, what is school". There also seemed to be a funny moment when they again talked about singing with Andre Rieu but I had no idea what that was about? I then think they gave the current stats from You Tube and streaming platforms for 'Voila'. They finished up talking about her own concert at the Concertgebouw and what she would be singing. Among all that did I miss anything new or significant? I really must learn some Dutch properly if I am going to follow Emma for the rest of my life! 😃

@@RogerC-2024 Basicly (it is too much to translate the entire interview) she told , as you say, a lot about her condition and how in impacts everything in her daily life: tight planning, depending on a wheelchair to save her energy for other activities, 22 hours a day limited room for movement due to the tubes and pumps. It is music which gives her the strength to soldier on and she openly said that she is not sure how she would be when music and André Rieu did not find her: this man and his orchestra are meaning 'the World' for Emma. And next year (on 21 October) she will have one (yes: 1) concert in the great hall of the iconic Royal Concerrt Hall in Amsterdam. It has almost 2000 seats. The program is still 'under construction' as other artists will be involved as well: Emma simply does not have enough strength/energy to perform 2 hours without having a good pause to 'refuel'. But she already has had her own concert 'Emma' a few years ago (it is on KZbin) and she can perfectly make a concert which is fit for her. Emma did announce the upcumming concert in this interview and, at the same time, on her Instagram: about 3 hours(!) later the event was SOLD OUT... I am sure she is a very happy girl right now. I guess she is dancing on the stars... I mean: a 17 year old girl performing her own show in a packed 'Royal Concert Hall' is so unique. I never go to theatres or so, but I think even for this theatre which has seen so many artists this is a very special event.
