Thank you-this is a really great video! I’m starting the program this fall and want to take GIOS as my first class. About how many hours a week do you think you spent on the course? Also, do you plan to take AOS in the future? Cheers!

Happy to hear! I probably spent about 20 hrs/wk, but there were definitely peaks where I spent more. I didn’t end up taking AOS, and I’ve already graduated, but I’ve heard it’s a great class and might take it in the future

Hi Sam, great video! What were the other difficult courses that you would place into top 3? (or may be top 5? 😊)

For me, Graduate Intro to OS, High Performance Comp Arch and Grad Algos were the 3 hardest courses, by far. There was a pretty big drop off in terms of difficulty after those courses

How was your C background going into this course? I've used Python and Julia, but not much (if any at all other than a few times) C.

Not much. I’d written a few small programs and read about half of K&R

What was your undergrad major before OMSCS and did you have to take any MOOCs before applying?

I did bioengineering for undergrad. I did quite a few MOOCs to see if I liked computer science, but specifically to prepare for OMSCS I did four community college classes

Do mind sharing which community classes you took please, and were they helpful, and what other classes would you recommend in retrospect?
