There's a very similar bus station in my hometown of Horsham, and the bus drivers there are also required to honk the horn twice before reversing out. Certainly seems sensible to me.

Dudley bus station has been planned to be a similar bus station to Hanley. currently drivers pull side on to the station but this is planned to change with the modernisation of the bus station

The old Exeter bus station drivers had to honk twice and put on their hazards when reversing.

On mmcs when they reverse they say on thr route shower thingy BUS REVERSING

For some reason, my Cotterell is broken, the ticket pack doesn't work, so when people ask for a ticket, they put down money, but the ticket price is 0.00

They do sound similar, probably because of their use of the Voith gearbox, that high pitch scream when braking is a well known voith feature :)
