Omu Peak | Bucegi, Romania | Hiking | 4K

im going to bucegi in a month, wanting to go to omu peak. do you have a picture of the trail you used? or an app that followed you?

Have a great trip! The scenery is spectacular! I bought a paper map of Bucegi, when I was in Bucharest. I usually use the GAIA app when hiking. There's lots of different routes up to Omu, of varying length and difficulty. The one that I did was quite steep, but very scenic. I parked on Strada Valea Cerbului, near Busteni. I don't have an exact route to share, as I just followed the map. But if you search online for "Omu Peak from Valea Cerbului", you should be able to find a route

@@MaylesTrailssorry I’m trying not to be rude but I would like to know which peak you are even aiming at. I have flown 3 hours and driven 5 hours to see Bucegi Mountains up close. I still have no clue where this “peak” is. I am sorry. 🤷🏻‍♂️ . Maybe it is simply “knavin’” (Irish phrase)

@@conorpatrickmarsh3785 The peak is Varful Omu (or Omu Peak), which is the highest point in the Bucegi mountains. There's a hut at the summit. I started my hike in Busteni, which is a 2 hour drive from Bucharest. There's lots of trails to choose from. I bought a map, and followed what I thought looked like the best route.

@@MaylesTrails I have the peak I thought was Omu on video but I believe it is the peak to the left of “Omu” as you have it in your video when facing back down towards Bran from the summit. It is a rather pointed, triangular peak which would surely not have a hut at the top. I think I can actually spot it in your video. “My Omu” let’s call it. Now if that doesn’t confuse you.

@@conorpatrickmarsh3785 Oh I see. Yeah, that is only a few metres lower than the summit. Lots of the bumps up on the plateau look similar heights. If I didn't know I was looking for a hut, with a big rock next to it, I wouldn't have been sure which bump was the summit.
