Have you thought of building raised beds on the stony soil to give a better root run. You could build them from stone as you have such a great supply. My bay tree took a few years to establish, it now wants to be 8feet tall and 4 in diameter so we have to constantly prune it.

We have raised beds already, we just don't use them as much as we should lol

Andy have you not tried using a cream bag to fill in. Between The stones it must be Quicker to fill in the stones than you hands or towels then brush over with soft brush

Found a ginger growing in a covered soil box in my mini greenhouse. It was pale but healthy looking. Transplanted and it is a dark green now. It takes about 9 months to produce so I’ve a long wait to harvest. Mine does best in a moist semi shade area.

Yes, we discovered ginger doesn't like baking in the hot sun all day!

Ice plants (from South Africa) have become a really problematic invasive plant in California. I would encourage you to find a native alternative.

I have grown Brussel Sprouts, they Do Not tolerate anything around them at all . Since you have them in a bathtub with other plants, they will not produce ! By now, you should have a long stock of Sprouts . The good news is to remove the other vegetables and they should take off. They grow even with snow on the ground as long as the temp does not get to 0°F then they die . I like them little Cabbages on a stick lol😊

Cats are so cute helping out… first Katzi, then Alfie, then a tabby feline “mulch” in the fourth pot (3:21 ish). 😻 Aside from wild boar (😱), what other dangerous wild critters do you have to deal with in Spain? Where I live in the US, it’s mostly coyotes and the occasional bobcat (and of course, snakes). Due to the coyotes / bobcats, though, it’s necessary to keep our pet cats and dogs indoors with only supervised visits outside … I watch your cats being able to roam freely with great envy.

We're quite fortunate - we get snakes and apart from the boar, which are ok if you keep away from them, foxes are around and the cats see them off lol. We also get big birds of prey but nothing really threatening to the animals, thankfully

If you want to dig around the house you could have a moat
