Seen here is a ride on a 6 train, operated by R62A, bound for Pelham Bay Park via Express in Manhattan and Bronx.
Due to elevator replacement, uptown 6 train service ran express from 14 Street-Union Square to 125 Street. Passengers who needed bypassing stations would transfer at Grand Central-42nd Street, 59 Street, or at 125 Street to a downtown 6 train for bypassing service. FYI, 86 Street would be an exit and enter station since you have to exit the station by uptown platform, and to re-enter the station, you would to use your unlimited Metrocard or OMNY device to re-enter for downtown service.
Also, due to track replacement on the elevated portion of the 6 line, Pelham Bay Park bound 6 train service ran express from Hunts Point Avenue to Pelham Bay Park. Passengers who want bypassing stations would have to change at Parkchester-East 177 Street or stay on the train to Pelham Bay Park to take it back down for downtown service.
This whole ride for me was an express ride all the way to the Bronx, since it’s been a while since I did a 6 train to the Bronx, but instead of being local, it was express most of the way in Manhattan and in the Bronx, and we were moving at a slow pace since we were behind the 4 and 5 since it was sharing the track at the same time during the day and evening. In the end, this would be the only train to leave the station to go back downtown to Manhattan, although a custodian caught me off guard of what I was doing, I didn’t pay any attention to him until the train left the station. But at least, my ride was okay, no trouble during the ride at night, even with the homeless coming on to the train to ride at night, but not much homeless except for some rowdy children on the train, but at least I was safe and well during my ride to Pelham Bay Park.
Enjoy!
