Yes, it was like ASMR and hypnosis all at once, but i didn't sleep because the footage and information was so good.

I traveled on the same series of trains 287. It was a Kuroshio LE - Osaka-Wakayama-Osaka, it was cool - one seat in the first car on the right, green car =)

Good times! Did you get one with the panda design and all the animals on the sides?
@Actizer9 ай бұрын
It was an ordinary train =( I learned about Panda and Hellokitty etc upon returning home, when I became interested in JR trains =)

Welcome to the club then! I've recently taken that train, both panda and non-panda variants, so will be doing a video for that epic journey down to Nachi falls. Great scenery on that route, right?

Enjoyed your video very much, especially the trains/passes options. My wife and I plan to go from Kaikeonsen>Kinosaki>Amanohashidate, make stops along the way, in the spring. (We were in Kaikeosen recently and loved the tranquility, fireworks, beaches, and hot salt water onsens.)

Thanks! That's a great plan - the north coast up there is just gorgeous and very overlooked. Do have a wonderful time!
@nateshf93034 ай бұрын
@@japanunravelled Agree, maybe let's keep it that way. We actually stayed one night in Mihara Station, another underrated little city, bypassing major cities to avoid the crowds, before going up to Kaike.

Your videos are very well done - no such thing as a boring train ride in Japan (IMHO).

Thank you! Definitely agree. This one was especially fun because of the snow - I couldn't ride the previous day.

Your videos are so informative and perfect for me ...I'm heading to Amanohashidate and Ine mid November this year and was hoping the JR rail pass ,which I'll collect in Osaka apon arrival to Japan, (heading to Kyoto first) could be used to get to Amanohashidate too :). Love to see a video of your time there also

Thanks! Good to hear. I have at least 2 more Amanohashidate videos coming up.

great! we plan to ride this train to Amanohashidate. Useful tip regarding where to seat. I didn’t know you’d still have to pay cash even if you have kansai wide pass, so we are going prepared thanks to you!!
@japanunravelled9 ай бұрын
No, you only need to pay extra if you're using the national JR pass. It's included on the others like Kansai Wide.

Great video Andrew, I liked your cute mob and keyboard combo, could you share which brand keyboard and mob device were they?
@japanunravelled4 ай бұрын
It's a Cosmo Communicator. It was great until the keyboard failed. Decent typing on the move. The maker, well, search for "Astro Slide" and read the comments.

Thanks for the informative video! Could you please share which make & model is that mini laptop at 4:53 ? :) It looks very portable. I wonder how much power it has and what kind of work is possible to do on it. Thank you!

Hello!! Another great clip!! Keep them coming!! You mentioned that with National JR there is a surcharge, Im aware, but do you know how much is it and when we need to pay it (like in advance or on train)? Thanks for your time and keep the good work 😊
@japanunravelled9 ай бұрын
Thanks Pete, good to hear from you again. You have to pay 1750 yen one way for that section. I think they should have included it in the national pass when the price went up. However, it's included in the two regional passes, as well as others, which makes them even more of a bargain. Staff will come to collect the fee on the train, although I think you can also pay at the ticket gate when you arrive.

Thanks for the informative video. Can we make reservation online using Kansai wide area pass, in advance? Since this is a reserved 'only' train are there free seats available one day in advance?
@japanunravelled9 ай бұрын
Best to check with JR West about the online reservations - they have a English enquiries form if you look for it. I've reserved seats on the day no trouble. A day or two in advance will be more than enough.
@zulkefleehasni58593 ай бұрын
hi, i just want to double confirm about what i understand from your video. so if i have the kansai wide area pass, i will have access to the routes that you're taking in the video right? from kyoto to fukuchiyama via the hashidate limited express, then from fukuchiyama to amanohashidate via the kyoto tango railway. and i will need to use the wide area pass to reserve a seat in the hashidate limited express for going and coming back.
@japanunravelled3 ай бұрын
Yes, correct!
@zulkefleehasni58593 ай бұрын
@@japanunravelled omg thank you so much, ive been trying to figure this out. But did you take a direct route kyoto to amanohashidate in the video? Because the early part of the video show kyoto - amanohashidate
@japanunravelled3 ай бұрын
Yes, it's a direct train. Perhaps you're confused because it uses 2 different railways. First it's on JR lines up to Fukuchiyama, then Kyoto Tango Railway to Amanohashidate. But it's just one train.

may i know do u have to book the ticket in adv ? if yes which website can u book it
@japanunravelled5 ай бұрын
On the day or the day before you're usually fine. At the ticket office or machine is easiest.

thanks for the detailed video, I plan to go to Amanohashidate too in 10 days from now but I couldn't figure out how to reserve a seat for hashidate train on JR west website as they don't show the destination miyazu/amanohashidate for selection. The thing is I will arrive to Kyoto from Tokyo on shinkansen and right after that from Kyoto station heading straight to Amanohashidate without staying in Kyoto, so I'm afraid if I don't buy/reserve the ticket for Amanohashidate in advance, I may be short in time in between two trains trying to figure out how to get the ticket. I also watched your video about Kansai wide pass and it is very helpful to know if I use the pass to go to Amanohashidate then how could i reserve a seat on the train as it is mentioned that reserved seat is required?
@japanunravelled6 ай бұрын
If I were you, I'd visit a ticket office in Tokyo and get them to book it.
@nlintense6 ай бұрын
@@japanunravelled thanks for the tips, I'll try in Tokyo, else I will take the bus option which is probably easier to manage.
