Excellent review, for both the audio and video. Minor quibbles are that there is occasional entertainment on the stern deck adjacent to the bar, and that there is food service provided in the bow adjacent to the Explorer’s Lounge. You are quite right to point out the significance of the Viking design aesthetic. It provides a visual component and cue to the overall approach of elegance without overstatement, comfort, serenity and intelligence.

TIP When using the Viking Laundromat you need to press the soap diapenser on the wall next to the washers to dispense soap into the washer. If you don't press the numbered soap dispenser that matches your washer you will only be washing in water. Did a load of wash without knowing this tip. Maintenance explained this procedure to me after messing up.

I did a Viking River Cruise and loved it. Now in Viking Star on a sea cruise and a really sad shock. What we loved from the river cruise hasn’t carried across. Some is the same - housekeeping are great etc, but imho it’s just an old boat badly refitted and not up to it. Whe’ve had problems with the junior penthouse we are sailing in. The most annoying one is a high humming noise travelling from the ships a/c ducts into our room. Guest services didn’t respond,. Housekeeping did and had it fixed pretty quickly although not his job.👍🏼2 days later whichever person turned it up last time did it again so I’m back at square one. 👎🏼Just one example but what they add up to is I ‘ve really not liked this cruise and couldn’t possibly recommend it to anyone else. Just my opinion of course.

"Just an old boat..." It started sailing in 2015 so it's hardly ready for a 20 year refit. Oh, we've sailed on Star twice as well as nearly identical Sky and Mars.

You implied that "everything" in the spa area has a cost. That is incorrect. The spa pool, saunas, ice room, etc. are included. The costs are for things like massages and hair appts. Also, all tips are not included. The daily gratuity for the stewards/waiters, etc. is additional. On the cruise we have booked - we are paying $17/d/pp.

Thaks for pointing that out. By 'spa'' I meant the facials and massages that cost extra. I should have made it clearer that the Spa pool and snow room are free!
