Seeing the draw I will not be surprised to see him reach the semi’s THIS year… Lorenzo, Maroczan/Tiafoe, Medvedev ( whom I see Fonseca beating with the serve that will keep him back and dropshots) and then Fritz or Shelton/Musetti. Rublev is better than all of them except Fritz. With this potential run he’ll be top 50, then the LATAM clay and sunshine double in US and Europe clay swing. Sounds tailormade for him.Hope this kid do well.

many saw this coming, including me, but not in straight sets. Rublev has been mentally fragile last season, while Fonseca built a winning streak lately, so in a way a logical result. Still, the way the youngster stepped up in the tiebreaks was impressive. Rublev, on the other hand, doubted himself and retreated to his monotonous ball-bashing. that's not how you beat this guy. i think he will go to the third round, i saw his match against Sonego last year, i believe it was at the tournament in Estoril.
