This is an excellent performance of John Barry's great music from the opening teaser scene in "OHMSS"(1969) in which Bond rescues Tracy from drowning herself and fights off the bad guys on the beach ("This Never Happened To The Other Fella") as well as the subsequent music in the film. Very nicely done by this group of wonderful musicians!😀

I always thought that George Lazenby was really good as Bond. Peter Hunt did a great job on OHMSS. John Barry needs no introduction. My favourite composer, hands down

This movie is underrated. Lazemby was the ideal actor, more thsn Connery. Read the novel and you understand. Thanks for the upload ❤

Just an amazing performance! “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” is not only John Barry’s richest, most heart-rending Bond score, but serves the greatest James Bond film - starring THE best Bond, George Lazenby. It’s even more fun when you can visualize each scene to match! What a pleasure this was! “This never happened to the other fellow!”

After listening to these tunes for close to fifty years, it is really refreshing to hear "covers" of them. They are close to the originals, but just slightly different enough to allow for a new listening experience. I like that. Keep doing these, please. I love it that you cover the "deep cuts" from the Bond scores. Heck, everybody does the Bond theme or the Goldfinger theme, but you folks are pulling out "Journey To Blofeld's Hideaway"! Fantastic.

my only regret is that Connery passed on this one. It would have been the best by far had he done it.
@thomaschacko632010 ай бұрын
Connery did us a favour by passing on this film. He was bored and indifferent, drifting through “Thunderball” and “You Only Live Twice.” George Lazenby, with no experience, portrayed a more energetic, athletic, human Bond. Connery wouldn’t have had the right chemistry with Diana Rigg; nor would he have done better in the tragic final scene.
@MrEab201010 ай бұрын
@@thomaschacko6320 we must agree to disagree on Connery as Bond in TB, YOLT and (theoretically) OHMSS. He captured the zeitgeist of the 1960s like none other. As a kid I was there to see it in person. With Rigg, whose Emma Peel was one of the two most dazzling women of the era (the other being Catherine Deneuve), the pairing with Connery would have been pure magic.
@historybuff662 ай бұрын
@@thomaschacko6320 I wholeheartedly agree, Connery did Bond fans a tremendous favor by bowing out of the role. He was tired looking by 1967, chubby, bored and just plain fed up with the role. With his back to the wall, director Peter Hunt had to pull out all the stops-and he did so in spades, going back to basics by remaining faithful to Fleming’s superb novel and even imploring composer John Barry to “go for broke” and give it his all (!)
@thomaschacko63205 күн бұрын
@@historybuff66 Agree with you 100 percent! To this day, it boggles the mind: We fell from the heights of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” to . . . “Diamonds Are Forever”! From the minute Connery appeared on-screen - looking like a senior tourist on a cruise ship - I thought, “Oh, goodie, they replaced George Lazenby with his father!” Add to that the cheapness of the production design and the asinine quality of the script! It may be a good thing that Lazenby didn’t stick around for Guy Hamilton’s three pieces of crap.
@historybuff665 күн бұрын
@@thomaschacko6320 Little did fans realize it at the time but it would take essentially 18 years (1969-1987) to return to the foundation and core elements of Fleming’s world of Bond to steer the franchise back to the basics as envisaged in “The Living Daylights” with Timothy Dalton. And in a further twist of irony, Lazenby could have assumed the mantle of 007 the entire time, his being but 47 years of age in ‘87.
