I have no words. You did this PERFECTLY! The real kicker about Eponine's situation is that she never truly loved Marius. What she loved was an idea that he represented. And she KNOWS this, but she clings to her "love" for him despite being fully aware that it's false because she feels that it's the only thing she has that's worth living for. To quote Aragorn from Lord Of The Rings: "It is but a shadow, and a thought that you love."

You and I have very similar stories about becoming hooked on Les Mis. My mom was listening to the highlight cassette tape one afternoon and I asked her about it. I subsequently "borrowed" the tape from her (pretty sure I still have it) and listened to it over and over. That Christmas, my parents gave me the complete symphonic recording on CD. It was the first CD I ever owned. By the time I saw the show that April, I had every word memorized. I've since seen it four times live and listened to dozens of different versions of the songs. This is by far the best cover I've ever heard, and right up there with some of the actual cast recordings I've heard. Just out of curiosity, who's your favorite Eponine?

Sorry to be an audio geek for a moment, but I absolutely love the vocal treatment on this. I'm not sure what's going on here.. Maybe a new compressor reigning in the dynamics? The quiet passages are nice and forward, and I can hear that soft vibrato. Balanced very well with the backing track. Whilst I'm here, I might as well also say I loved the performance. This song always gets me, and it's worthy of a Brittany treatment :)
