In the continued aftermath of Myanmar’s 2021 military coup, pro-democracy rebels continue to fight against government repression, risking their lives to do so.
Subscribe to Journeyman here: kzbin.info_c...
After Myanmar’s military coup in February 2021, and the brutal suppression of the protests that followed, thousands of pro-democracy activists decided to fight back against the generals. ‘I joined the armed revolution because I believe if you’re a real human being you have to be brave enough to stand up for what you believe in’, says Bamahti Abadi. Like many others, he fled to the remote countryside to join the armed resistance, known collectively as the People’s Defence Force (PDF). ‘With the PDF’s motivation and effort, if they were properly armed I believe that they could be a lot more effective’, says Lt. Kareng Naw Htoi of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). The PDF receive training, weapons and support from long-established ethnic rebel groups, such as the KIA and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA). ‘In the future of our country, I hope to see the end of military dictatorship and a federal democratic nation governed by elected politicians’, says Naw Naw, a resistance fighter.

You know nothing about this. Myanmar is comprised of dozens of ARMED tribes and each of them fight against themselves or against the central government. Rohingya is one such tribe. The US and EU helped Rohingya and these tribes covertly because it suits their agenda to destabilize the region just like in Korea and Vietnam war. Suki, although a fair democrat, was too soft against these fledgling tribes. The central government is far from perfect, but IT'S THE BEST HOPE against these violent tribes. Only if you entertain the idea about having refugees and SA cartels taking control of the US/EU, only then, you can tell me again that you support these tribes.

@@asian0665 If you're really from here don't you know that each of these +50 tribes have been at each other's throat since forever? And if you live or deal business with people around this region for +20 years you should know that the armed tribes are far more animalistic than the central military government. You know well what will happen if one of these tribes come into power. Do you think forming a temporal ally with them will stop them from lopping your head off tomorrow? So you just want "peace"? That's why so many young folks got killed because you are too naive and believed in the US/EU pipe-dreams. I've already said this in my previous comment, but I'll say it again - The west simply wants to destabilize the region by inciting the uninformed local populace to die for them, exactly the same tactics they used in Vietnam, Korea Nicaragua, etc. This is nothing new. PS: You shouldn't ask where I'm from. I could be the long-lost queen of Myanmar or a military officer trying to spin this around for all you need to know. I simply just want people to see the truth from a different side.

@@danieln9226 yea it's a valid concern, esp due to the fact that since most of the ethnic states have been at war with the bamar government since independence, corruption is rampant in their armies. The KIA for example, despite being one of the biggest obstacles for the tatmadaw, pretty much grabs every single child off the street they can get to use as meat shields while the big shots just sit back and make money off of jade and opium. My family's business itself got disrupted not only by tatmadaw but also by the KIA. i personally obviously prefer any other group to the tatmadaw but i just hope those groups can get along too. Even now, many people in the kachin state, when i last visited, called this civil war the "lower lands' war"

These young men exhibit incredible courage, the type of courage that can change the world for the better. They have the courage to stand up and fight for freedom, even at risk of everything that they hold dear. This is something that the spoiled people of the West have forgotten. Most westerners (US and Western Europeans) have completely forgotten what it means to stand and fight for freedom. Most have forgotten the true cost of freedom. And don't give me the crap about the US having been at war for over a decade. That war only touched a very small percentage of Americans such as myself who served or those who had family members in the military. The majority of the US and Western Europe has forgotten that the price of freedom is the blood of heroes. It's time that the West remembered this and found the courage to stand for freedom and self-determination.

Well I mean the military is 1% of the our population and if you served you know its a selfless service. We havent forgot shit because every time its time to fight we do. I agree with Europe, they have been banking off of US soldiers stationed over there for decades and they constantly fail readiness standards besides a few.

Burma would have been much better off without Anglo British Colonialism. For instance, there's hardly any Muslim, Hindu or Christian there up until Colonialism. True, it's fair to say that many of these tragedies that nation facing today, such as racial, ethnic and religious conflicts, started with Colonialism. 😔 Speaking of ethnic and religious tragedies Burma facing today, the fact that the world's longest Civil War which is in Myanmar, mainly between Buddhist Burmese and Christian Karen (while Buddhist Karen are largely at peace) was made it possible, prolonged and supported by Anglo Clans of USA, UK & Australia, etc while they are using next-door neighbor Thailand (which has a defense treaty with them) as a base camp since in the 1950. In my humble opinion, ethnic Karen refugees fleeing the conflict/war in Myanmar are entitled to cross over to Thailand to stay, as well as eligibility to relocate to new places such as USA, Australia. - The fact that the world's longest Civil War which is in Myanmar, mainly between Buddhist Burmese and Christian Karen (while Buddhist Karen are largely at peace) was made it possible, prolonged and supported by Anglo Clans of USA, UK & Australia, etc while they are using next-door neighbor Thailand (which has a defense treaty with them) as a base camp since in the 1950. In the '60s and '70s, using Thailand as a base camp, attack against nearby Laos & Cambodia were launched during Indochina war where several millions innocent civilians were killed. - Colonialism & Colonization are evil things done and benefited by evildoers.. Here in Singapore, a tiny island with 6 million souls lives like sardines in a can, where else in nearby vast bountiful Australia which is ten thousand times 10,000 bigger with a mere 27 million inhabitants. Similar situation in tiny and packed Japan, which is running out of space and land. Do you know that their living room and bedroom are the same place, and that most Japanese people sleep in their living room. - Here's the one solution. Why don't Burma's Muslim, Hindu & Christian population, if they wish, move to place like Anglo Colonized vast bountiful Australia/New Zealand in Asia-Pacific region? After all, these are Asia-Pacific lands looted from Native Asians-Pacific people." 😔 Speaking of the coups in Burma and some others around the world today are totally different from the coups which took place over half a century earlier when newly independent nations, including Burma, just came out of centuries-long Colonialism, bitter and poverty-stricken, turned to a new deal of Social-Democratic system (Socialism/Communism). - Today's coups, in most cases, are changes in the political system only, while the economic system is mostly left intact. Like I said, today's coups, in nations such as South Korea, the Philippines & Thailand, in most cases, are changes in the political sector only, while the economic/investment sectors are mostly left intact. - So what is this the fact that the West & their Western news media hardly utter a negative word about coups in Asian nations such as South Korea & the Philippines in the past and Thailand today; and yet the West, Western news media and their affiliates hardly have a day goes by without having negative comments & reactions regarding coup in Myanmar. May I ask why are they treating it so differently with Myanmar and most of all, what are they up to, what is their truth motives behind all these? - Speaking of USA-led joint annual military exercise in Thailand, which has been under military coup since 2014, and true, last August 2021/22, the largest annual military exercise was held among full participating nations, USA, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia & Singapore.

I hope the dictator falls, but what will your country do if the dictator has fallen? In my view that country there are many ethnic-based militant factions, they must immediately eliminate all ethnic-based militants if the dictator down or Myanmar will be in war again because the ethnic militant faction fight each other to grip power.

The world really forgets and neglects about a very big civil war breaking out inside Asia. I'd been deep inside of the revolution and all these records were true. If and only if the civilians of cities put more effort and support to revolution, this won't last too long and less blood stream.

The situation here is pretty bad in northern and west east side the military is getting pushed back little by little but ever time the military loses the battle they burned down one village to the ground the cities are getting attacked but not like full on assault. It is like bombing the local government building and military outposts . one military outpost nearby just got blown up. I mean other countries forgot about this war. I can’t even go to school because of this .if i go to online school they will hunt down the students and teachers so yeah my fate isn’t looking too good. The dogs aka the police and the soldiers are everywhere in the city .they bombed innocent villages and committed a lot of war crimes on their people. You know how bad that’s got a 9th grader get r#ped by the soldier one teens were tortured to death .

@@mrbigbrainfoxm.b.b.f4072 It's even too bad in Sagaing. Every roads connecting towns are full of mine craters. Ambushes are happening everyday, every night we can hear mortar shelling from both sides, military burning houses everyday, fleeing to big towns where they'll be safe from military and economy is absolutely disaster compared to other parts of country. Sometimes we felt like there's noone to help us. Even in the same country, while we are facing the military, others parts of the country don't even care about us and living their lives as it is. All the atrocities are happening just within our region, chin and kachin And once you stepped in nearby mandalay border, there's not even a single mine crater. It's sad to say but many of the ppl thought we will become another country after military was driven out beacuse others just care us on social medias.
