Yeah, he talks a good shoe game. I spent 3 years working in a small skate shop within which I examined and owned many shoes during that period. Emerica have a good history of good looking and functional skate shoes at a better price-point than some other brands they've seen and out-seen. I still only buy skate shoes. They stand out, tastefully, they last ages if you wear them as chillers. Even now, I can't skate anymore but, I have a bag in the shed which is host to some 5 - 6 pairs of older and chunkier style shoes. I threw many pairs away, which I kind of regret. It was only because of moving around and the space they took up.

Angus Chelates Reissues don't ever seem to sell as well. A few quick examples: Emerica - The Boss (reissue of the Reynolds 1), Vans - Rowley Classics (reissue of Rowley 1), andLakai Koston 1 (eS Koston 1 reissue). From my experience, reissues just don't work out that well for several reasons. Companies have to push the reissues with the newest technology that they have to offer - this means that the reissue is not an exact replica of the original, making older skaters less likely to buy them. The younger skaters who don't have much money to blow on shoes aren't going to shell out the same amount for a shoe that came out when they were a child when they can buy a shoe that's popular, long-lasting, etc. that has buzz around it. And finally, reissues aren't reviewed as often as new models --- this goes back to the issue of money, a skateboarder who comes from a low income household may depend on the reviews of others so that they can get their money's worth.

JoeyBooey The [Rowley] Classic is discontinued... The slim/lite version is still sold though. I was under the impression that the Half Cab was never officially discontinued. And the eS Accel has only been reissued for updates and due to eS closing down. It's a bit different. The fact of the matter is that a new shoe with new technology with a pro endorsement will sell better 10/10 times in comparison to a reissue that barely gets any attention.

JoeyBooey Depends on the shoe. If I'm very fond of a pair of shoes aesthetically, but not so much for skateboarding, I will buy them and wear them. Other skate shoes, especially limited releases (and no, I don't mean Nike SB Quickstrikes) are absolutely collectable. For instance, let's say that your favorite shoe is the Emerica Figgy, a brand new Emerica shoe from a pro that absolutely shreds. But, what if the shoe is only on the market for 1-2 years? So you skate several models of the shoe, and then suddenly the godliest colorway is released at certain skateshops. Would you not want to have a pair or two stashed away for further skating, walking, or even admiring?
