On The Hunt missions are Free Roam Missions given by Strangers in Red Dead Online. Put your huntng skills to the test and track down dangerous predators. On The Hunt mission objective is to travel to a nearby location and hunt a predator that's been terrorizing some locals. It's typically a bear or an alligator, but there are also a few that have a cougar and a wolf. On The Hunt mission has a 20-minute timer that does not begin until you reach the hunting area, so this is a good mission to pick if you want to do the full 30 minutes. You can safely wait up to 30 minutes and do other stuff like collectibles before heading to the hunting area, but don't wait for over 30 minutes or you'll fail On The Hunt mission. Sidenote: On The Hunt mission typically puts you into a solo lobby. Hunt and deliver the bear's pelt. Search the area for he bear. Deliver its pelt for the full reward. Go to the Cumberland Forest. Search the area for clues. Invstigate the noise. Kill the bear. The bear has been killed. Collect its pelt and deliver it as proof of the kill. Skin the bear. Pick up the bear pelt. Deliver the bear pelt to Valentine Sheriff's Office. Proof of kill delivered. Hamish Sinclair Mission Passed. Hamish Sinclair is a minor stranger character in Red Dead Online. Hamish Sinclair was a soldier for the US army during the American Civil War and lost his right leg to a cannonball in battle. Hamish Sinclair can be found by the protagonist at his cabin in O'Creagh's Run. After introduction mission, Hamish Sinclair can be found at either O'Creagh's Run or Cotorra Springs, and will offer recovery, delivery, rescue, and hunting missions to the player. Accepting Hamish Sinclair missions increases the player's honor.
Stranger Missions in Red Dead Online are short side missions spread across the entire map. They will show up on your map as an orange, man-shaped icon. The quests they offer include hunting, retrieval, assassination, resupply, and escort missions among others. Every stranger can give you one mission per in-game day. Their icon will fade to gray once that mission has been completed or failed. Their icon will change back to orange once they're available again. Strangers also move across the map, so you'll see the same faces in different places although they'll offer the same types of missions. Note that by starting some of these quests you'll notify other players in the server so they can kill you or intercept whatever the mission objective is during the mission.
Free Roam Missions can be picked up by Strangers that can be played solo or with a posse. Free Roam Missions have fairly consistent and long timers given how little you have to do to complete them. The timers almost always provide you with more than enough time to go hunting, sample animals for Naturalist, or gather Collector items while you're on the mission (perfect for multitasking). Free Roam Missions are also very easy compared to most Bounty Hunter and Blood Money missions (as long as other players don't interfere). 100% of the Collector items will spawn while you're on a Free Roam Mission. Moonshine and Trader production also continues during Free Roam Missions. Other random free roam encounters will also spawn during these Free Roam Missions, such as legendary animals, treasure hunters, etc. Many of these Free Roam Missions have a PvP element that can be disruptive. If you want to totally avoid interference from other players, you should use the various solo lobby tricks or simply avoid the Free Roam Missions that have PvP elements.
