Coming from a UW fan Penix is going to be a star if he can stay healthy, there is no doubt in my mind. Bralen Trice is a Dawg with a non stop motor and going to be a nice addition to the line. Dorlous gave UW fits on the other side and couldn’t believe he lasted as late as he did. I really like what the Falcons did in the draft, I’ll be cheering for them from afar out here in Seattle.

Terry Fontenot is either a genius or a madman, I'm not sure which it is yet but I think this will be the season that proves it either way around. Either his draft and FA strategy has always been amazing but was hindered by horrible coaching OR the coaching was never as big of an issue as we though and the framework around it was just not going to work either way (or both were bad, although I really doubt that). I obviously lean more towards the first because before a certain someone was getting a bit too cute with the offensive gameplan Kyle Pitts had a fantastic rookie season, back with stable albeit no longer peak QB play from Matty Ice, then we got two nightmarish years where so many things just weren't the way we needed them to be and still we were technically competing for a division title until the last few weeks unlike Carolina. I'm thinking if we got to that point where a lot of our losses were extremely close ones with THAT framework, now having improved what we have and being set up for the future with MPJ, it's definitely possible that 10 years from now we look back and slap ourselves for ever doubting Terry.

Mostly everyone (fans, analysts, and "experts") dogged us in the draft. 90% of that due to the Penix Jr pick. Ironically, it was and is a genius pick. The rest of our draft? Yea, it was damn solid. Ruke seems like he's gonna be a dog. Trice seems like a 3rd round steal. Not to mention the depth with the rest of the picks. Plus, they all seem like good, humble, and grateful dudes that fit right in with our current culture. Edit: McClellan looks like a solid 3rd option. Can run well with good vision and pass catch. Dorlus seems like another steal that late. He has the swim move, bull rush, patience, and good awareness. Bertrand right place, right time consistently. Seems smart as heck. Washington has size, hands, and some top end speed. Zion, a plug in the middle. Awesome draft imo. Also, random thoughts. We could use another corner and possibly edge (Emmanuel Ogbhah). It'd also be cool to give Darby another shot. Maybe bring back Julio as well.

The problem wasn’t that they picked Penix, it was the fact that they paid 10 mill guaranteed to Cousins when they could have gotten him cheaper, and Penix was expected to go lower, so he would have been there even if they traded back. But I do like the other picks. They seemed to choose guys with a motor. I especially like the LB from Notre Dame.

They could have done what LA and Tampa did. Build the team, trade the young qb that’s not getting the job done, trade or get a vet qb later to win the Super Bowl. That would have left more money for FA at other positions. Now you will have either an overpaid backup or a high pick that will be on your bench for a couple yrs.
