"We're spending our children's inheritance!" The motto on the back of RVs. Cris explains the on-board radar that detects highway patrol in the area. Ernie explains the 'Jake Brake' on his bus. Ernie talks about his days in the service, his ten years as a Navy man, through WWII. Plus Ernie encourages me to take off my shoes and get comfortable. I then impart advice to Ernie about taking your shoes off in an airplane: not a good idea.

These videos of Ernest Borgnine just enjoying himself are truly priceless. He was one of America’s great actors and just the most natural and friendly guy as these videos demonstrate. He loved his bus/RV and being on the road to some adventure just around the bend. I know this great msn is now traveling Heaven’s highways in Paradise. When watching these clips it’s like he’s still with us and in some ways he still is.

What great guy and great actor, always liked Ernie. McHales Navy was one of my favs when I was a kid. Great cast! BTW, I drove sand trailers for many years, I know what Ernie’s talking about when motorists jump in front trucks and buses and then jam on the brakes and expecting the truck or bus to able to stop. Now you have to find a way to not kill that motorist.

There was a time when the feds required everything sold in the U.S., even a Ferrari, to only have 85 MPH speedometers. And yes, he meant it has 85 as top speed indicated, not how fast he was actually going.

Actually the radar doesn’t alert you to the Highway patrol in general. The radar dectectors of the time only would alert you if any Police or Highway Patrol has their radar on. Not every cruiser had radar in their cruisers in 1995., unlike today where the technology has advanced to the point where it’s a smaller and more portable unit that can be installed in more cruisers which allows more of them to have one. But most people think that the radar detector will alert you to any police/highway patrol cruiser n the area., as if there is some common magic signal that gets emitted. But that just isn’t how it works. The radar unit in the cruiser has to be turned on and actually be aimed at the spot where your detector is located in your vehicle. Although it has saved a certain amount of people from being stopped for speeding it does give folks a false sense of security because in reality they don’t understand how radar and the radar detection devices actually work.
