I bought a omega 3861 sapphire moonwatch professional, METAS CERTIFIED with a coaxial movement. And it still cant beat the accuracy of my tudor bb58 blue. Tudor watches are really something...

Thanks..interesting to see how other collectors’ watches behave..I’ve noted that its best to fully wind and leave for a while to settle down before testing...👍
@andrewhatton27744 жыл бұрын
I agree with that, I tested all of my watches when I got my time grafter and found that they all performed well when fully wound, warmed up and worn for a short while to settle down, when straight from box cold and just wound they didn’t perform very well.

Really interesting stuff thank you. My (black, for what it's worth) BB58 gains about a second every three days when I'm wearing it all the time, including at night. When I take my watch off at night it gains about 4-5 seconds. I've tried placing it in all sorts of positions but it always gains time. I just wear it all the time now! I guess I move around quite a bit!

The only thing is that to measure the BB58, you need to adjust the lift angle in the grapher to 49-degrees. It is not 52 for that movement. I also have the blue BB58, and when I wear it 24/7 I get on average -4.7spd. (not that impressive to be honest). Yes, if I take it off overnight (crown down in my case) I can get -2spd, but they are promised (by Tudor) to run on the wrist at -2 / +4 a day.
@EricBishard11 ай бұрын
Mine with the correct lift angle is 2 to 3 s/d. BB58 Blue Dial 6 months old, fully wound. Ensure that you let the watch settle for at least 1 minute in each position before recording. But yes, his lift angle was wrong. And the lift angle is just a Google search away. Also the best position to test any wrist watch is the 8 clock up position as it is the moody important position the watch operates under.

Good video Uptick. My Tudor Bronze is my most accurate watch in all positions. It’s more accurate than my two tone SD43 with 3235 movement by 1 second. But I think that watch needs more time to break in I don’t wear it a lot.

I share your interrest for clean aesthetics (they are very difficult to do) By the way, that corne de vache is a killer watch. Unobtrusive, with that blue chrono hand giving it just the right amount/dash of color contrasting the silver dial... legibility is not so good but that’s not the point. Who needs a A3 when you can walk and look at that dial... Another fascinating item is how to convert the wives, how to infect them with the watch fever.... in my experience, it’s a rather time consuming thing where one needs a lot of patience and convincing powers Well done for you!

Excellent video. Just subscribed. I've literally just started watch collection..don't laugh but to get a feel for it I got an inexpensive Seiko 5 with 4R36 hackable, hand windable automatic movement and put it on my new Weishi Time Grapher, and got a result of +3 seconds and beat error of around 0.4ms! I was amazed! I got a virtually straight line. In my collection I'm thinking of Omega and particularly Grand and King Seiko which in research I'm hearing beats every other luxury brand including Rolex on time keeping, amplitude and beat error. So based on the cheapie I bought, and given it's performance, I've just ordered a Grand Seiko SLGHOO5. They quoted +15 to -45 on the cheap one and quote +5 to -3 on the Grand Seiko. If the performance of the Seiko 5 can be so much better than promised, I'm hopeful that the Grand Seiko will be close to perfection! For €9,900 I hope so! BTW, when you said Seiko gives a snowfall effect, that's not true, I've seen plenty of videos for even upper range standard Seiko watches with excellent results. I think your watch snobbery was showing a bit. 😉

Yeah. That’s the thing with Seiko and Grand Seiko. Their watches tend to perform way better than what’s on paper. Especially the more famous models. Have you had any results with your Grand Seikos?

Mine ran +5 to +6 per day when the dial was up during the night, then I switched it so that the crown was up and the watch was resting on the He-valve side, it slowed it down and it did +2 per day. Now I have a Tudor BB58 which runs at -3 per day if held in the same position (crown up), but runs +-0/day if the dial is up. I'm very impressed with the performance of both watches

Great informative video. Loved the comparisons, just a shame there wasn’t a position for the Tudor that slowed the bugger down a little, You’ve obviously naturally humorous so don’t be afraid to let that shine through. Really enjoying your content, keep up the good work 👍

how many winds to fully charge the power reserve on the tudor bb58? help
@UptickWatchReviews Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure there's a way to know as there is a overwinding protection mechanism, maybe the feel slightly changes when fully wound. I suggest not to wind that much anyway, 20 winds max and let movement fill up the rest. Less stress on a part of the movement that's likely to break first

Honestly. I expected better from patek. Not to be snide but all their history. You’d expect some development into counter axial amplitude to maintain a time deviation that averages to zero. But maybe thats just magic to consider such a perfect watch. I however, have a few inventions in mind that could further improve movements.

No, the specs for this watch (listed on their website) is -2 / +4spd. COSC is -4 / +6, but the MT5402 is rated (promised) to be -2 / +4.

unfortunately, my BB58 black is running +5-6s per day. Although that is still quite accurate, 99.99% accurate, I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. I was expecting the watch to avg out in the 2-3s range, since it should slow down at times and speed up at times, but it seems every day it moves forward 5-6s.
@UptickWatchReviews3 жыл бұрын
It’s still within spec. Do you wear it at night? If not it might perform better if you do rather than leaving it flat dial up at night. Or leave it in a different position like 12 down or crown down to see how that goes.
@travisharrisphotography2 жыл бұрын
@@UptickWatchReviews Just wanted to chime in. +5spd is not within spec for the BB58. They have the specs listed on their website for this watch and its -2/+4. It is not the COSC standard they go by with Tudor. They are promised to be regulated to no more then -2 / +4 spd when worn. This is why most reports of this watch is stunning (within a second or less a day). Anything other (technically) is out of spec and should be (could be) sent in for service. My BB58 is -5spd and it drives me nuts. I have a $1200 Marathon with an off the shelf SW200 that is better, LOL. I have an $800 Damasko DS30, with a standard 2824-2 ETA and it runs -4spd when worn 24/7. So, when you think about it, $4K for the BB58, it really should be within the specs they promise. So far, I have not been super impressed with the Tudor, or I feel that the Tudor should have been far less money. I paid brand new a month ago from the AD ($4066 out the door with taxes). -5spd, not too impressed to say the least. I was also quoted 20 weeks to send in for service to fix! That's 5 months! Not happy with that either. So, (for now) just keeping it the way it is.

The Explorer is not within Rolex Superlative Chronometer specifications : should be maximum +2 in the first flat position and not +5 ! It's not that important in daily life and that movement seems very health but it looks like fake marketing...

They are that accurate when tested by Rolex when new, and should be at least very close when meticulously serviced. No mechanical watch will stay strictly within its spec for years, worn or nor. The sort of deviation you see on this Rolex is negligible.
