I just watched the video on loneliness and social isolation (even though these were made 2 and 3 years ago)... and between that and this, I'm balling my eyes out.... I'm 700lbs and can't socialize even if i wanted to, as far as going out... and i don't have friends that come over to my house to see me... and this is exactly how i feel all the time... The only thing I have is my friends online playing MMOs and stuff, and my mom... I look happy on the outside, but very much the opposite on the inside... so thank you for posting this, because you bring these things to light to maybe help someone... idk if it's helped me, lol, but it's certainly made me think.... and if you're actually reading this, boogie, i would very much like to talk to you man to man... so send me a msg on here :)

It doesn't help everybody. It used to help me, but then music that I used to listen to started to make me horribly depressed because I associate old memories with it. I can only listen to music if it's something I never used to like. Which means, music doesn't really help me.

As a HipHop/Rap Fan I can say: Watch out for Rap. It gets you confident, but you can start getting radical if you listen to the wrong shit. I'm from Oakland, I can tell yall, I never met a Gangsta who gave a fuck about youtube, so chances are - you aren't a gangsta and you might not even be from a Urban Environment. Getting Pumped on Rap and Being a Dick is not a cool way to deal with Social issues in my experience, I found myself carrying Guns and thinking in a terminal fashion - I'm lucky not to get knocked or kill the motherfuckers who fucked with me over the years... Rap validated dangerous decisions in my mind...

I'm a mom and my anxiety keeps me for the most part housebound. God, I wish I had his attitude. I watched another of his vids, a recent one about his trip to the ER. All being said, he considers himself a lucky man. I wish I could count my blessings rather than discount them. LIAFD? I get it, and if you are young enough? You have a chance of beating it. There are so many ways to calm yourself, paced breathing (in for 5 reaching the belly, hold for three, exhale for 5) gets the sympathetic nervous system going, releases chemicals to calm. Rubbing your feet back and forth on the floor helps (don't know the mechanism in that). My son experiences anxiety and is getting help. I'm pissed because the therapist he is seeing is not offering him the tools to manage the sleepless nights, the dread of going to school etc., Anxiety to the point of stopping you in your tracks is no way to live. It breaks my heart. Good luck okay?

Sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in on me and my world is imploding. It's not just the crippling social anxiety, or the stress, or the self doubt, or the mood swings, or the heartbreak, or the depression - it's all of these things combined. People just don't understand what it's like until they experience it themselves over a period of years and years. I could write an essay on how my life has been an emotional living hell but who would care to read it. Music helps, so does video games and funny videos like the Francis character. Thank you Boogie for supplying us social outcasts with these videos. Thumbs up.

I could relate to a lot of this, I spent years as a shut in, I still am one in some ways, good days and bad is how it feels. Some days I feel up to going out, other days I simply wouldn't leave where I lived. The best thing to do is challenge it but like he says even while doing that I still feel tense and anxious the entire time. I personally want to thank Boogie for sharing this.

Yeah I am like you, somedays I feel like I am the most social person on earth. On others I feel like the most shy and nervous. I also feel this has to do a lot with the people around me. If I get good vibes I become super social, if I feel intimidated I clam up and become awkward. Note though: I was a lot worse in my younger years. I am literally a different person today. But I still have quite a distance to go to somewhat overcome my social anxiety, which is totally achievable btw. I am now about to start in a profession where I have to chat and present to large groups of people and I don't really ever get nervous, maybe tense at times.

Boogie I suffer from several severe mental illnesses & go to a adult day treatment for help throughout the week it has helped me tremendously. However there is a stigma that surrounds it & it's sad when people try to label you if you tell them you have mental illness it shouldn't be that way, I don't see any problem with taking medications & going to get help for yourself. It has helped save my life. I would just like to say that you are awesome, you're real & to the point I appreciate you, I'm glad you do these videos they help a lot. Just wanted to say you're an amazing person boogie! I had shit spoken about my weight(or lack of it) and acne back in highschool, 5 years ago, and it took a brutal tole in terms of high anxiety, depression and just my overall health as a whole. So for the last five years(age 16-21) I've 'shut' myself away from society to a point, barely leaving the house(only when I really, really need to) etc. because I feel as though I don't belong or deserve peoples time or attention, almost like a piece of scum. And when I'm in contact with anyone, even family members, I start fidgeting and panicking because I think whoever it is is judging me/looking down on me. I'm trying to make a change starting this year, because I feel I may go insane if I don't get things out in the open. Be alone is pretty much destroying me. Anyway, subbed man! And I love your videos, whether it's yourself or Francis, it's always time well spent. ; )

Just today I was at a job fair and had to leave a panel because I got nervous due to the crowd. I've finally gotten around to setting up goals for my own life, and I share a lot of your fears "What if people hate what I come up with, what if I'm not good enough?" I know what its like to feel like every time you leave the house and hear people talking and giggling and instantly think you are the topic of conversion. To feel like when ever you leave the house theres a massive spotlight on you, to feel like even going to shop is a massive task. To think that you dont belong anyway. That this cruel game of life dealt you a shitty hand and whats the point of playing when everyone else seems so comfortable and you are struggling to even accept who you are as a person. that too is where i am at in life. who wants to talk to the extremely nervous sweaty guy who cant even make eye contact. let alone a human connection...

So much resonating. Through this channel, I've become able to feel empathy for people like you and at the same time, I feel that a lot of what you say applies to my own life. You've had it way worse, not gonna shit all over that, but I also know what it means to feel terrified of people, being made fun of, shutting myself at home, not feeling happy about it... The worse thing is that sometimes I become way stupider than I am when confronted with social situations. Your words are sincere and encouraging, you're a fucking trooper.

This explains is EXACTLY how I can feel about things. I feel that demotivation going on in my head and I feel like I have to fight it. I recently decided that I wanted to make myself a youtube channel. One because I know I like to do things that make others happy and it would allow me to reach out to others and leave a positive mark on their days. Most of the time that fear and that anxiety holds me when it comes to things that I enjoy, such as cosplay or hosting events or just in general letting my happy energy out and about, because my nerves just get the better of me and my anxiety holds me back a LOT. One of the other reasons I'm making a channel is to push past that and do something that I will enjoy, setting fear aside. I just got finished watching your advice for new youtubers(I subscribed, I liked the energy i was getting from you and I find you inspirational and someone I can relate too. =) ) but anyway, I just wanted to say I really feel like you hit the nail on the head with this and I appreciate once again for advice. When I look at what your doing, it makes me know that this is what I want to do, I want to reach out to people. So again, Thank you =)

I prefer to be completely alone but if I had to choose between being in a situation with a lot of people or just with one person, Id choose to be with a lot of people! Cuz when I´m with just one person I feel like the focus is on me that I have to sorta "carry" the conversation and its my fault if there are any awkward silences! With a few other people there is more chance that one of them can do the talking and I´ll just pitch in with a few comments lol

I've had social anxiety since I was young but it started very little, as the years go by it would get worse and worse. By my sophomore year of high school this is when my anxiety hits me really hard, it was extremely hard to talk to people, I suddenly had a crush on a friend of mine although I never had the balls to ask her out. I was losing friends due to my struggle of talking and then I was having a lot of negative thoughts about myself. Made me feel sad and angry didn't know what to blame. Eventually I found a therapist and I went to UNO on Xbox live to practice my social skills. So far right now I have been feeling better than I was but I still feel like I have social anxiety, at times I still struggle to talk but I force my self to practice by going out to parties, talking to people online. Also been going to the gym and help volunteering at a local church. Basically try to keep yourself busy by being social, force yourself to find things to do no matter how shitty your brain feels just go for it. And also accept that you do have this problem it's a flaw and everyone has their own flaws. It's about how you deal with them is what makes you strong. That's what I have learned

People who don´t think anxiety can be a major problem, please don´t neglect it. I have been struck with something called depersonalization disorder for the last month which is just hell EVERYDAY! You feel completely numb to emotions, the brain just don´t listen and you think you are in limbo. It´s like another plane of existence. Trust me, you don´t want this, so take care of things, if you have anxiety problems, talk with someone about it. Don´t hold that shit in. Or else you just might lose yourself like me. I don´t even recognize myself in the mirror anymore, do you know how fucking scary that is...
@jakobhallberg5338
@jakobhallberg5338 11 жыл бұрын
***** Well the symptoms of DP (depersonalisation) is different for everyone but one of the more common symptoms are feeling like you are in a bubble, like you don´t control what you do, you think you are in a dream somewhat... This shit comes from either traumas and not dealing with it or high stress/anxiety, but there are more causes too. Basically you don´t want it.
@kimaegaii
@kimaegaii 11 жыл бұрын
Jakob > that is how I feel a lot of the time. And it's amazing the two reasons you mentioned for it because I have high stress/anxiety and since i was a kid i got teased a lot and changed myself to fit in and never dealt with that really. i mean, i try to be more honest and be who i am but idk how to deal with my trauma's i guess. how did you know that? i am so curious.
@jakobhallberg5338
@jakobhallberg5338 11 жыл бұрын
kimaegaii Well, when you are struck with it, it sorta makes you think about it all the time, like normal anxiety, but with DP, it doesn´t go away. And because of that, you want to know how to get rid of it. I´ve had it for more than a month now and I´ve spent a lot of time researching it.

I get completely that narrative in the mind. In my case, I have personified it as a little lictor--a tiny little man with a beaky nose, thick glasses, and a fringe of hair around the back of his head--his suits are impeccably tailored, but his shoes are scuffed, and he has the list of everything I've ever done wrong in my life--even if it was from when I was in kindergarten, and nobody but me will ever remember it--and proceeds to rattle them off, with commentary about what a terrible, awful, useless, worthless person I am. I had to personify him, because part of my coping is picturing myself tying a handkerchief around his mouth to muffle him so I can go about my day and not freak out like a Siamese cat.

I'm a special education teacher and many of my students have anxiety disorders and other social disorders. Even if it is summer, I showed them all your video and they all enjoyed it and we had a great discussion about it and positives (and problems) with the Internet as it relates to social and anxiety disorders. I'm glad to see you branched out a bit from the normal video game chatter, and did something more personal and something that can be inspiring to other people. Keep it up.

i dont trust people easily , takes me almost two years to start to trust another , the other thing i have is i dont like to argue or draw attention to myself in public , anything stressful can bring on the anxiety for me , also if i am overly tired or someone mentions something that triggers a past memory that is hurtful , it all depends on the seriousness of the situation and how comfortable i feel at the time , i had a slight depression problem " i would call it more of a insight on how life really is not worth all the work involved of being basically a slave " and i was offered medication to help me and this was when my anxiety came back among other new disorders ,

I have actually gone through this too. I've lived the hermit lifestyle on and off for 7 years. I hit the wall real hard as far as anxiety/panic attacks go 3 years ago. It triggered de-realization and depersonalisation for me. I`m 25 now, it`s been a long road road toward full recovery, with many ups and downs but with a longterm trendline going up. I feel great empathy for anyone who suffers from an anxiety disorder, just know with time and effort, it gets better. You give great advice Boogie.

I've suffered from social anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, and depression for years. Tried so many different medications, I'm on one that works ok now. Video games have saved my life during it all. Watching this video helped me decide that I'm tired of living like this, I'm going to work on my own form of exposure therapy like you described and also get some more help. Thanks boogie, not only are you a funny guy but you're touching lives and inspiring others. You should be proud.

Listening to you talking about this subject just blows my mind Boogie, because it feels like me and you could be brothers. I've dealt with pretty much the same scenario. I had crippling social anxiety growing up, and I still suffer slightly with it now. I was a manic depressive, and only really found solace in video games. Now though, I've challenged it, and I'm actually about to start a new job that allows me to help other people deal with mental health disorders. You're an inspiration.

You are so awesome. I can't believe how much we let the world and it's negativity get to us. I can't believe someone as amazing as you would ever feel like how you have described. Such a good heart with such useful inspiring and intelligent things on your mind. People can just be so cruel and it's not right. But it's even crazier that you believe them. Or that I would either. Thank you for the advice and words of wisdom. You just helped me so much. You opened my eyes and give me hope that not everyone sucks.
