People wont like this but Ike is the future of bass fishing. I appreciate his emotion and his youthfulness. I think the sport needs a transcendent figure to bridge the gap between old and youth. The good ole boy past hurts/haunts the sport's image and culture. I hope we watch Ike in 20 years like we watch Dance and Martin now.

Its hard to portray sarcasm in a text. I meant nothing by it and happen to like Mike. He is a great fisherman with a ton of knowledge on bass fishing. My second favorite soft plastic is berkly havoc, devil spear (Iaconelli design). I noticed a few things he would normally not do this time of year, but I'm sure it was because of the interview. Sorry bud if you were offended, I was just pickin with him.

@TeamGlades haha hes practice fishing for a major event.. At most points in the day hes not actually fishing to get a strike. He's covering water to piece things together. Then when the moneys on the line he'll fish slower. You watch good fisherman on the lake and you'll notice that each day they will slow down generally more and more, atleast in the amount of water they cover. Thats Big League!

This video is to show what professionals do when theyre NOT catching fish. Which is just as importnat if not MORE important than what theyre doing when they're catching fish. What are they doing when they're not catching fish? What did they change to make them catch fish? i find this more informative than watching some knob try to sell me his "revolutionary" soft plastic.

Ike they were in the shallow murky water because as every great fisherman knows, murky water warms up faster than clear and shallow water warms up faster than deep. Most likely the shad were in there using the wood as cover. Come on man!! You know this!! :)

shoot if I'd known that he was answering fans questions I would've submitted this: Why do you think most anglers including yourself cast with your right hand then switch it over to your left to reel? When clearly you can retrieve with your left hand!
@TheFinja6 жыл бұрын
I think I can answer that. Back when baitcasters first came out, they were right handed retrieve only, up until recently the manufactures were getting more requests from anglers to develop left handed retrieves. It makes sense considering a majority of the population is right handed. Thats why a lot of these seasoned pro anglers use right handed, they're just used it. There isnt an advantage to either, just whatever your comfortable with!
@bookmaster2406 жыл бұрын
good question. I'm right handed but I'm comfortable casting with my left hand so I don't have to switch hands. I prefer cranking with my right hand, otherwise I'd get an LH reel. baitcasting reels have traditionally been RH crank, so that's why most people use them. there are still more RH reels on the market than LH. I'm not really sure why, but at this point it's tradition.

@bassresource7 жыл бұрын
Then watch the whole video. Thanks!
@swburton31612 жыл бұрын
...??? actually that's false lol. the reel has a lot to do with it. if he's cranking with a 5.0 or 5.4:1, he's gonna have to reel a lot faster to bring in as much line. lots of guys use the lower gear ratios for crankbaits, big spinnerbaits, etc because there's less torque while pulling the bait through the water. but, then you have to crank a little faster.
