I have always polished my cymbals. (into my 50th year of playing). I used to try and leave the logo untouched but once I saw Neil Peart and how his logos were removed, I can't wait to polish them off. I know what cymbals I play. I don't care if others know.

Hey Kenny, been a fan of everything you've done for years man.💯 I've always wanted to try the Nomad, but was kinda skeptical and wanted to see someone like you use it first. Would you suggest it on the Meinl byzance traditional and brilliant lines?
@KennySharretts Жыл бұрын
First of all thank you for the kind words, and for watching. On the Brilliant line use it all day long. The traditional line has a matte finish that this polish will make shiny so I’d be committed to that look if you use it on a traditional line cymbal. Thank you again for watching, and note that tips via Super Thanks are now available on my KZbin videos to help support my channel.

Hey Kenny ! What cloths do you use for the polishing ??

I just recently bought a used Sabian Paragon cymbal, and it has super stubborn scuff marks all over it that won't come off, even with polish. Any tips?
@KennySharretts5 ай бұрын
Alas a buffing wheel with a light rubbing compound might be the only solution, but that will erase the logos, and remove the matte finish. Sometimes we just gotta play them as they are.

Hey kenny, ive got a question bout cymbal cleaning, ive got sabian cymbals im using sabian polish , when ive cleaned in the past it seems to pull a shit ton of black on the cloth , is the polishing stripping the alloy outta the cymbal and will it make the cymbal brittle over time ?..
@KennySharretts Жыл бұрын
Howdy. Anytime you clean a cymbal, you are taking a bit of the cymbal away. I don’t think you are doing too much damage as it would take a lot of cleaning to make it brittle over time, but I suppose it’s possible. Thank you for watching. 🙏

Never heard of this cleaner before, would it be ok for Paiste cymbals Kenny?
@ThirdEyePried Жыл бұрын
I came for the same question. I play paiste and constantly read about having to only use the paiste brand cleaner (impossible to find) because of the coating on paiste cymbals. Have you found this to be true, Kenny?
@thepluggy1 Жыл бұрын
@@ThirdEyePried I think Paiste basically discontinued their cymbal cleaner, no idea why though.

I will check with the Nomad Fam
@tobiaswinter1358 Жыл бұрын
@@thepluggy1 I talked to people at Paiste about that several years ago and they don't get the chemicals necessary for their old cleaner because of restrictions. There was a time when they planned a replacement, but I don't know if that info is still correct today.
@peterpiwoski Жыл бұрын
I've played PAISTE cymbals since 1978 and have played nothing but PAISTE. I've treated my cymbals as if they were a precious metal (gold or silver). Always keeping them clean from fingerprints - I hate fingerprints on my cymbals - by using PAISTE cymbal cleaner. For PAISTE to discontinue and not replace it with something else is a complete slap in the face to loyal PAISTE users. I'm more than disappointed with PAISTE.

Only use a polish on brilliant finish cymbals. Water on all others, maybe a mild degreaser for prints and sweat removal. Some enjoy the green spots....patina! I think I still have some AA cymbals buried in the back yard.😂😂😂

Like your video but that's a lot of work. I clean my A Zildjain cymbals with car polish mild compound with a buffing machine, then wash it off with dish washing liquid and dry with towel. My cymbals finish looks like brand new. Now I can maintain them with cymbal polish.
@KennySharretts26 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind words, and for watching. I’ve done a deep cleaning with a buffer, and a compound in the past. Effective indeed, but it’s hard to preserve the logos if logos are your thing. Mickey already has so much stuff 🤣🤣🤣, adding a buffing machine to the rig for a set of hats, and one crash doesn’t make sense for me. Besides I actually like the shoulder work out.
@iman5826 күн бұрын
@KennySharretts Honestly I don't worry about the logos because genuine A, K, Z Zildjain has the Avedis Zildjain original engravement into their cymbals. Pro drummers like me and you can tell expensive cymbals just by hearing the explosive sounds they produce.
@KennySharretts26 күн бұрын
@@iman58many drummers agree logos are not a priority. For some though it’s paramount 😂. I try to keep them on the cymbal, but I don’t over worry about it.

I just toss mine in an ultrasound at a nearby Air Force base to get all the finger grease and grime. Then put them to an electric automotive polisher making sure it doesn't ever get hot. Logos? Not important since they don't endorse anyhow.
