No, no, no. As software users, we cannot accept micropayments for using software features. Today you'll agree to IA stability, and tomorrow you'll pay separately for dehazing, sharpening, etc. All the more so when these micropayments are hidden in ON1's official advertisements. They know why.

Stability AI your paying to use someone else's resources. Processing and electricity isn't free If you want to use your own resources then there's the local generation as outlined in the video as-well which does a good job, isn't a micro transaction and will work for life. The Benefit of stability AI is the ability to choose for better resources and better models. If they didnt have it then they would be getting smoked by photoshop and lightroom(which are also microtransactions with no option to run locally or free) so on1's inclusion of stability AI is a bonus feature IMO.

@@DroverPhotography Funny, I don't have to make any micropayments to Adobe. I honestly pay a subscription and honestly get 100% of the product. I don't care how much it costs Adobe to use their resources. That's their problem. ON1 is de facto offering an incomplete product that requires additional payments to get 100% performance. Their prerogative, as long as they are honest about it in the commercials before you buy the software. Meanwhile, they don't talk about it, and that's dishonest. Today I have to pay for decent despeckling, tomorrow probably for sharpening, etc. If you agree with this, then OK, I do not agree with such practices. We both have the right.

I see your point. But what happens when you stop paying for your subscription? You loose the app you loose the service you loose everything. With ON1 its 70$ in and out and i can use the generative remove local gen infinitely. If they decide to charge for sharpening and other features then i simply just don't get that update and can continue to use my software that I own forever. If i want better performance you have to pay yes but if i took an adobe license for a year (lets say 120$) and took that 50$ that i saved to generative credits that would last myself a basically forever as i don't use it all the time. So for year 1 ON1 and LR are financially equivalent. After Year 2 ON1 is no cost to me but LR is still 120$ (probably more with adobes price increases). That saved money difference only increases as time moves on. making on1 the cheaper option. The credit system in ON1 gives us choice. To use supercomputers and AI Models that exceed in size what some computers have in total storage but it is not required for the feature. ON1s advertising could use some work in terms of clarity and production value but they offer a trial(Much longer then adobe's) so you can look at the results before purchasing for yourself.

@@DroverPhotography The payment method I choose depends on my budget and my interest in photography. If I am no longer interested, I do not need a program. I used ON1 for 2 years (versions 2023 and 2024) and it is not an affordable program to use. Some tools like selection and deletion are lousy, others like sharpening and dehazing are great. I need a program that is less controversial. To me, it will always be dishonest to sell an underperforming product and charge extra to implement 100% performance. This is true in all aspects of life. I don't accept it and I vote with my wallet.
