Didn't realize how big overall the layout was, impressive.

Thanks so much for this very detailed narrative and tour of a much admired track plan and authentic level project. This class A level has been one of my “go to’s” for brain storming of my own layout. It breaks the myth that tons of track, switches, and the like are needed to replicate real life. Thanks again.

Love the track plan and seeing the progress update. Had no idea you were in Central California. Pretty cool to have such an amazing layout here in the valley. Keep up the great work, look forward to seeing more soon.

Rich, Thank you for posting the trackplan showing how all these modules will go together. Makes a lot sense now. I'm slowly laying track on my On30 layout. I can run a train now. I'm not at the scenery stage yet. That is why I have not ordered any more of your great structures. I want to get all the track laid before I do order more. I do want one of your hotel kits, but I need more time to figure what is going where.

Very glad to see you back, Rich. Love your modeling and structure kits. I bashed one of them into a 3/8ths scale mine office for my Arizona Copper mine module in 3/8n20. 2 others are on my On30 layout. Keep up the good work and postings, thanks

Hello Rich! Glad to see another update, and the track plan looks great - I especially like the colors on the drawing. I'd love to get over your way and operate sometime once this pandemic passes and you resume running the railroad. How does one get an invitation?

Once she's up and running and all the little bugs are gone..........well at least MOST of them are gone I will do a short little "Moving Ore" video and see how much feedback I would get on a Payless Open House? Not sure where your located but I am in the Calif Central Valley in Modesto. Thanks, Rich

@@richwhite4331 I'm in Ukiah, up in Mendocino County, so Modesto would be about 4 hours at best. Still, I'd love to see it in person. If you're ever up this way give a shout and we can run some trains in 1920's Florida. Thanks, Galen (another garage model-railroader!)

Thanks Rich. I've been wondering what you have been up to lately. I really appreciate you sharing your track plan. I hadn't realized for some reason that you didn't have any track going into Mt. Bullion. (sp?) I thought you had started out with Bachman's shay. So either bad memory or it quit working. Any chance for a new Gazette article some time?
@richwhite43312 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jack!! No plans for a Gazette article as of now. The plan is to focus on getting her up and running again, just need to finish installing 2 blue points then she's ready to go. As far as a Shay, never had one but one is on my short list for sure!!

@@richwhite4331 Just watched your vignette #1 & 2. It finally dawned on me that your greenery is staying green. Can I ask what you do to prepare it and what kind of lighting are you using since you are in the garage? The last layout I had with green grass ect faded pretty fast. That was made from ground foam from Woodland Scenic and I was using florescent lighting. Now it's LEDs. Another detail That came up was your buck up on the high point checking things out. My experience with them in the wild is that there are almost always a couple of does around and maybe some fawns depending on the time of year. Young bucks may not have any. And then adding some may really crowd things.

@@jackheninger5471 Good Eye Jack!! the does are grazing back down the hill a bit. I have always used Woodland Scenics ground foam, but I have to admit that there is some fading of the materials. I think that because there are so many trees it tends to take the focus away from the ground foliage a bit? I use LED's only for my lighting, high intensity bright white. Rich

@@jackheninger5471 I can tell you from experience that it is the fluorescent lights that are fading out the colors in your scenery. Where I work we have huge colored wall maps showing the local area. Those maps are hung in the gov't building hallways that are lit with florescent lighting, no windows in those hallways. On every one of those maps there is a color fade from the top of the maps to about the 4.5 foot level from the floor. The higher you go the worse the fade is. Those maps are sealed in a clear plastic coating too. That coating doesn't protect the maps from color fade. I am positive that florescent lighting will fade scenery and structures on a model train layout as well.

@@dkaustin98 I suspect that LEDs also fade colors. When we moved into this house I ended up painting almost every room. My wife and mother in law wanted some shelves put up in some areas. So a few years later we came close to moving to WI to be close to kids and grand kids. So shelves came down, patched the walls and touched up the paint. In a few rooms the lights had been on most of the day and the old paint was lighter. Old and touch up paint came from the same can. Not sure how it will affect scenery colors. I'm guessing we will all known within a few years.
