Objectively, I understand much of the criticism with Deion and the coaching staff but development to the NFL isn’t one of them. Maybe as a prototype X & O coach their not the best but multiple hall of famers & long time NFL vets can surely talk to scouts and get the kids right mentally to be there.

He is gonna recruit . Remember this is his SECOND year. Prime wants to WIN NOW! You cant win NOW with high school only players I dont know why that is so hard for people to understand. Prime can recruit at ANY level he wants. With this being his SECOND year, they going to start recruiting HS players but he needs the MEAT and POTATOES right NOW. People want to expect him to win now so he needs his team NOW, not later. Now he can start adding hs players as time goes on now. Right now he needs talent, experience, etc and thats what he needs to win and the way he did it , was PERFECt. the way he is going it is perfect for him. You take over a 1-11 team. A team that was beat on an average of 30 PTS a game. SO you gotta come in with the mindset of win NOW. HS won't get you that. They can start adding that now.

What these recruiting sites aren't talking about is the fact Colorado is recruiting a lot of guys out the portal that have years of eligibility left. Also High school kids are jumping in the portal after one or two years of sitting on the bench. The portal has changed the game you no longer have to mainly recruit high school.

You simply cannot build a long-term sustainable program through the portal even if they have 2 years left of eligibility. Kids are in the portal for many reasons, most often because they are not that good! For all the players CU has brought in through the portal many are just not very good and haven't panned out ie the offensively line or the wide receivers as well.

The o line is still awful, and they are mostly portal projects, 8 sacks given up last night is downright putrid. The receivers are inconsistent and all off season we were told they were the best in college football.... doesn't seem to be the case. Deion could actually build for the future and show he wants to stay at CU for 5+ years by bringing in 25+ high school kids and recruiting the heck out of Texas, California, or Florida but he isn't doing that. Its simple roster building in college football and creating depth! Josh shows no hate in this video, 1 year of heavy portal is good because Deion wanted to over-haul the roster but to do it over and over again 2/3 years in is just bad fundamentals even in 2024. Stop with the hate crap bs just because a reputable college football writer or recruiting analyst has an opinion about CU its childish. CU is dead last in the BIG12 for recruiting with 7 recruits in September that's downright terrible even with a few supposed flips over the weekend, much behind the 8 ball as they say.

To Coach Prime's point, Hugh Freeze is losing, why because you don't have time to develop High School players fast enough given the amount of time you have to make a difference and be held accountable for a 29M dollar Salary. You need guys that are developing with eligibility left to start adding High schoolers into the mix to develop and wait their turn along with the young portal guys which he did this year. I believe next year Coach will focus more and more on High school guys and portal guys until he has a strong foundation that will allow him to win games and develop young players. He is a genius for coming up with this recruiting strategy given the program he inherited.

I know what I'm talking about. I was also pretty complimentary. Not sure you watched. I'll recap. I said that I think Colorado would've landed all the top players they scored out of the portal and would've landed a great finish to the 2023 recruiting cycle, a Top 10 class in 2024 and be on pace for another Top 10 class in 2025. That would be roughly 30 exciting HS players infused into the program for this season and roughly 50 for next along with the Dayon Hayes of the world from the transfer portal. You don't sound like you really understand roster construction. I think they'd be an even better team this year and really be set up for years to come.
