Continuing his success by opening up his contacts where Harbaugh came from the NFL and had to re-build them. So comparing the two isn’t fair at all. Michigan finished 8-5 with, by far, the most difficult schedule in college football. Played 33% (4) teams in the CFP & the 1st team out. Out of the final 4 teams in the CFP they played 1/2 of the teams left. Very excited for team #146!

Martindale's NFL defensive system confuses college QBs and dominates up front. QBs get pressured, happy feet and confused with the switching coverages on the back end. We saw it all last year under Jesse Minter, who was running Winks system. Michigan has powerful athletes on defense, even their 2nd and 3rd stringers can play.

Don't blame the cleats. Michigan showed that they have just as much talent as Alabama, but their players are younger and less experienced. If Michigan had a decent QB and some WRs who could get open, they would be in the Final 4 right now. They are flat out great on defense and they can run the ball, even against a box that is stacked because they can't throw.

The Martindale System: Ravens NFL modeled defense IS the best scheme in CFB. It relies on stacked DTs, excellent edge rushers and a back end that both flows to the ball, but also switches up looks and coverages. All of that confuses even the best of college QBs. That is the blueprint for National Titles going forward for Michigan. They would fare much better against Texas or Oregon if they played them today, because it took them some games for Wink to get a feel for how to call the college game. Now that they are dialed in, its clear, along with the last 3 years under Mike McDonald and Jesse Minter, that the Martindale System is dominating CFB.

With the quarterbacks and WRs coming in, the offensive line returning a lot from this bowl game, and Jordan Marshall (game MVP) combined with Justice Haynes coming in, this michigan offense should be more than functional, maybe even to the level it was in 2023.

He stumbled because he overestimated his OC’s qualifications but he also didn’t see how bad the QB room was, that’s not a good thing. There had to be at least a 101 QBs in the spring portal that were better than the three they had, so you have to question his talent evaluation for that position. Also, had he gotten just the 49th best QB in the portal, the talent they had would have made the playoffs & with the mediocre teams in it, they could’ve made a run. It was a wasted year, because of two critical decisions.
