Hey Rob, I enjoy my onboard battery charger prosport 2 bank charger. I have 3 group 31 deep cycle marine batteries. 1 as my starter/engine and the other 2 are paralleled (still 12v) for my stereo/LED lights/under water lights/accessories etc. I added the Blue Sea ACR and battery switch to make sure I am charged evenly on the water when using Stereo and Accessories. The ProSport has options on the charger itself if you have Wet cell types batteri or AGM/GEL type batteries (Yours may have that as well). I just got tired of putting chargers on the batteries on those long lay-up months. Also my battery life has increased and less in my pockets to purchase 3 Deep Cycle Batteries. Dont buy Optima batteries. Since Johnson Controls purchased Optima. The Quality and reputation has dropped. Great Video. Stay Safe and Cool.

When I drill thru glass and carpet in my boat I put painters tape on the glass where my holes are going and then put my drill in reverse to get through so it doesn't snag and twist the carpet all up. So easy and never worry about getting on the water with dead batteries........ nice install looks great

No because the battery tender runs leads from the unit to each charger. A battery switch just isolates one battery, or more to supply power to house.

Hi, Good job on the install. Do you charge the batteries when the boat is in the water via marina shore power, or just at home on a trailer? What are your thoughts on Galvanic isolation and chargers?
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41624 жыл бұрын
I keep the boat plugged in while on the trailer at the storage lot, each light pole has an outlet that boats hook up to. I'm not an expert on isolation but it's my opinion that its overkill for these boats, or at least my boat anyways. The only real draw on power are the Amps and they will shut off at the slightest hint of a surge along with the inline fuses.

Do you know what a flashing green light means on this battery charger
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41624 жыл бұрын
Flashing green means that it is applying a maintenance charge to the battery. In other words, the battery has been charged but there has been a small decline in voltage so its "topping it off." Nothing to worry about.

Nice install video, the exterior plug may not be necessary but it makes for a super clean install and factory look in my opinion. You definitely have me thinking of doing the same! Unrelated question.. how well do the subs sound hidden under the seat? Do you think they loose a lot of sound quality under the seat vs. Installed in the fiberglass? I ask because I've been thinking of installing a pair under my seat as well, because I don't want to cut that much glass, but wasn't sure how it would effect the sound quality.
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41625 жыл бұрын
Interesting question as it depends on what you expect from a sub or what you want from a sub. My neighbor (SX240) and I installed his 10 JL infinite baffle sub in that same rear compartment and it sounded like shit as far as subs go! The speaker itself is awesome but the space does not contain the proper airspace to produce enough bass. He purchased a closed box from amazon and put the same JL sub in that and it sounds great! So back the beginning, what do you expect from a sub? I have two 10 inch Digital Design subs and they are mounted in a vented box; a vented box will give you punch and bass versus a closed box will give a solid punch. Both sound great but depends on what you want from your subs. So my personal opinion is to put subs in boxes, either vented or closed. its worth the extra money. I hope that helps and if you any other question let me know..

I have a wetsounds free air 12" mounted under my helm. Its out of the way and sounds great. But i am considering hidind a sealed 10" sealed, under a seat for better in boat sound. If that makes sense to you. No expert. Just my thoughts. Its all about the body cavitation.
@robsyamahajetboatdiymainte41625 жыл бұрын
@@caseywasson8332 I'm no expert either, I've just tried a few variations. With that said, it's my experience that "free air" type subs just cannot perform as well as one mounted in a box.

@@caseywasson8332 Thanks for the insight, I'm only concerned woth in boat sound quality, so I'm glad to hear that may be what you end up doing. I've done a bunch of vehicle installs but never in an open aired boat, so its new territory for me! 😎👍
