I had a sams club membership. The only good things I bought there in 2019. Were cases of string beans, water, dry powder milk, oats, drinks (other than water) paper towels, 4 packs of them. Non perishable foods. All that stuff lasted me through the pandemic that came in March of 2020 through 2023. I went back out and got a few more things like ground turkey, little frozen goodies, easy to make, pancake mix, and all my eggs came from a free range chicken farm up the street from me.

When a family friends kids (they are like nieces to me) were younger I would always would include treats for them or other foods I knew they liked. They had 3 girls and could eat you out of house and home when they were hungry. But I didn't mind them eating at my house. They are grown now and the middle one still raids my fridge. She works and can afford to buy lunch but goes to grad school on line so I'm OK with it. My mom and dad drank their coffee black. If I drink coffee I like cream, milk or half and half with a little sugar

Pomegranates should be hard. If they are soft and squishy, at best they are old and they could be rotten. 🙂. You want to buy them when they are firm and the skin is smooth, not wrinkled. They should also feel heavy for the size.
